So I am making my first attempt at a mod pack. I have about 3/4 of the mods I would like installed. Now I am stuck though. Any more mods I add and minecraft will start up ok, but if I build a world it will start up briefly then hang. Since it hangs a crash report never gets made. Any idea how to troubleshoot this? I still have quite a few mods left.

If you look in your " ForgeModLoader-client-0.log ", you may be able to identify the problem.

I've been trying to find something in the logs off and on over the last few days and I guess I am just not that good at reading minecraft logs yet. I can't find anything that could be the problem. Hopefully the answer will be more obvious to you guys. Here is the bottom third of my forge log (guess the whole thing is way to big for a free pastbin account). Any help would be appreciated.

The mod I was trying to add in this log is "Ender I/O" in case that helps narrow things down.

These are item id conflicts, these can be solved by using NEI, do you have that installed yet?

Are you sure? Because I had solved other ID conflicts and it behaved differently. Also I am not getting an ID conflict log.

You missed off the most important information at the top of the log, so I'll ask.

How much RAM you allocated to the server?
What version of Java?
What OS?

How much RAM you allocated to the server? - 2Gb
What version of Java? - 7 update 45 (64bit)
What OS? - Windows 8

Sorry for not including that in the original post.

Forge is showing 92 mods. Just for the heck of it I decided to up the ram to 4Gb. Still hanging. I kinda wish it would crash instead at least that I could probably find in the log.

That was definitely a step in the right direction. The world started up and I got a few seconds of movement before it hung this time. A little sad though that mod was requested by one of the user's on my server.

I am starting to think that the real issue is that my mod pack is too ambitious. I think I am getting over some invisible ram usage limit. I just disabled a few less important mods and it is running ok. Is there some kind of configuration change I can make somewhere?

Is this in single player? If so, try to run the server locally and then login. I once had similar issues, but running both a server and single player on the same pc fixed that issue somehow.
Even if it doesn't, its good to just try it and see if the server at least keeps running when you try to log in.

-edit- this isn't a id conflict btw, chisel is just overwriting some vanilla stuff

Actually this is for a server configuration. This is really good to know. I might add some mods in the future. As it stands now, I had to par the mod pack down my nearly half in order to get it to run stable.
