Good day people.
I am playing ftb infinity and I am considering creating a small server for my friends and I.

The question that I ask you all is how is the best and cheapest method of making a server( about 5 people max). What should I use? I was looking at using mcmyadmin, but want to know if there are better methods.
Any other advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello, I would recommend renting a Minecraft server as it leaves it to the person/company to deliver Minecraft specific servicing. I am happening to be offering this sort of service for an affordable cost considering what you get (about the same cost/cheaper than a quality VM of similar specs). You can check here http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/thr...thout-the-premium-price-tag-you-got-it.90225/ and then feel free to PM me if your interested.

A server eh?

You have a couple of options:

Hosting it yourself
-This means if you want you and your friends to play on it, it will probably have to be a dedicated computer.
-Also means you'll have to learn how to port forward (this is usually similar on all routers, but you never know)
-You may have to learn a little about networking. Otherwise, this is the Cheapest option.

Renting a server
-Using companies like CreeperHost or another server hosting company is a lot more reliable
-This can cost some money
-Many dedicated minecraft server hosters actually have an automatic FTB Modpack installer, which is very nice
-Otherwise, you can use a FTP system to transfer all of the server files

Just remember, be careful where you put your money. While spending the money may make your life easier, many times you don't end up getting what you want when it comes to servers, so really think before you buy.

Not true in all cases, just like a company running servers you still have to account for cooling, hardware replacing, networking, and electricity. Even if your not adding a dedicated server/computer and just using your current one those costs will goes up and sometimes considerably more (CPU will work harder increasing power and cooling needs, more networking is required, and etc).

Will the cooling and all that stuff still be a problem if the total amount of people that are going to use the server are three?

Okay, honestly if you are going to be playing on a server with people on the weekends, cooling, power usage, networking, etc. will all be fine. You won't need to worry about any of that, all of it will be easily handled if you have 3 players and only do so on the weekends.
