Need a conduit/pipe that produces a redstone signal when item goes through.

Basically I am stumped on an idea where if you put an item in a chest and it transfers to another chest, I need to to produce one redstone pulse. Any ideas?

BC gates(of high enough quality) can also detect if there is an item of specific kind in the chest(filtered in the gate) or just any item).

You can use the Pulse Former to turn the redstone signal into a pulse if that is absolutely vital:

golem + tripwire?
dropper over tripwire over hopper?
Or, if golems aren't your thing:
Open Crate + pressure plate + hopperhock

Open crate drops onto wooden pressure plate, which gets picked up by the hopperhock. Or any other means of picking items up off the ground

I have heard of a thing, from a land far far away, called Vanilla Minecraft. It has these strange devices called comparators that could aid you in your goals:p

You can go crazy aswel and have a cart loaded with an item and riding it over a detector track to know an item has passed

There's always Refined Relocation's Relocators + the respective module. Those don't require a laser array for gates, if you don't have one. ^^

JABBA barrel with a hopper and redstone upgrade. Hopper facades can be set to take from one chest and output into another. The redstone upgrade can be set to output a signal when empty or having items in it.

That's the theory at least. I've had some problems implementing it, maybe because of low fps on my pc, the signals it produced were a bit erratic.

It would be EPIC if the COFH guys and RWTemma made it so comparators could detect if items were in a certain spot in the pipe. If it was right next to the comparator it would output a signal strength of 14. The farther away the item is in the pipe, the weaker the signal. Perhaps the EnderIO guys could do that too. But it would be tougher cause their item conduits are opaque and you can't see the items inside them. (I've been doing a bunch of that forbidden "vanilla red stone" stuff that @jordsta95 mentioned ;))

Last I knew, items didn't actually travel through EIO conduits. They simply seek a valid destination, then teleport the item to it. XU pipes work on a similar concept. Because the items are never actually "in transport" there is no possibility of backstuffing the system like you could with 1.6.x TE pipe systems.

But so far as the OP is concerned, I have to agree with the BC gates. I've not used them extensively, but where I have they've been a godsend.
