Is anyone else experiencing multiple crashes after the latest DW20 Let's Play season 8 modpack update (1.91)?

Since that update my game crashes *very* frequently - like anything between within seconds of startup to a few minutes. Sometimes it's fine for hours, but over the past few days it's got a whole lot worse, rendering the game almost unplayable.

I'm about to upgrade RAM from 8Gb to 16Gb (and then I'll allocatre 8Gb to Java), but just thinking that this problem started at the same time as installing the 1.91 modpack update, and wondering if that might have anything to do with it.

If the RAM upgrade doesn't solve it, I'll post in Tech (again) with a logfile dump (again).

Just wondered if everyone else has 16Gb RAM - am I the only fool who plods along with a mere 8Gb? Or has anyone else experienced anything amiss?

Actually, giving MC more ram can slow down your game. 4 gigs is okay. I've got 24gigs of ram in my system (lots of rendering/editing etc) with an older i7 and 4.5gigs works fine for me (YMMV)

Thanks Cptqrk. That's interesting - the recommendation to allocate more RAM actually cane from Tech, amongst others.

I've been running at about 5.5GB allocation for Java (1.0.8_25) with slightly better performance for about 3 months now, no texture pack. I've not seen any crashing in DW20 or Beyond (yet). I'd detail my performance but I also updated my system to a Ryzen 5 1600 with ram running at 2933MHz about a week ago and am still analyzing the improvements.

To answer the OP's last question, 8GB is still plenty, if you don't insist on having other processes running while playing MC. I had 8GB with my old FX8350 setup but bought 16GB for the Ryzen because of the new DDR4 requirement. Still didn't change my allocation for MC but I have room for the future.

Thanks Hambeau. I'm not all that techie - just enough to be a menace! I'm down for the RAM upgrade anyway, so it will be interesting to see if it has any effect.

FWIW, I'm having a new SSD installed at the same time, and will be migrating Curse etc to that, from it's present location on a (not very full) HDD.

The only other application I ever have running in the foreground, when I'm playing MC, is Chrome.

My current setup is:
Desktop PC running Win10
Intel Core i5-4440 @ 3.10GHz
8Gb RAM
GeForce GTX 980 Ti, latest drivers
Acer 2560x1440 @ 144Hz, with G_Sync.

Why isn't anyone asking for a crash report?¿?

Robijmvogel, if by crash report you mean a logfile, I put that in my last report to Tech, and it was suggested rthat I give more space to Java. The crashes are highly random - I played all day today and had only 2-3 crashes. The day before I had crashes every few minutes. No obvious pattern that I can see.
