I know it's possible to use MCEdit to delete the area outside my main base to get the new worldgen, but when I did that, all the villages generated with no chests or villagers. More than 5 or 6 I found were generated in the middle of the ocean, so it was really bad looking.

Is there a way to take all my stuff to a new map without destroying the villages?

This comes after getting the new Highlands mod included with 1.0.8 and really not wanting to reset to scratch. Thanks in advance.

Don't bother doing anything until Monster is actually stable. You are still playing a beta pack and the recent world reset is possible not the last. I would say play the world you have until Monster is stable and then start from scratch with a brand new world.

I can continue playing fine the way it is, I just want to move to the new better looking Gen, maybe even explore the new biomes on my main world. I could always move to a Mystcraft world, but I was just wondering if there was another solution out there. Reading through Qcraft's mechanics made me think so.

From what I understand you want to cut out your base and paste it into a new world? Why not just do that with MCEdit? Never used it myself, but I believe that is entirely possible.

If its not a matter of saving build architecture, but simply actual loose items, why not just start a new world and cheat them in again?

If I could take all my belongings and put them into a new world, I would, but cheating everything in would take ages. I actually wanted to redo my base entirely because when I started playing, I didn't plan on playing as much as I did. I was going to wait until Monster came out of beta for that, but I ended up playing a lot more than I wanted to.

I was pruning my base and letting it regen, but it messed up the terrain generation and that nonsense with the villages/dungeons missing chests/villagers dissappearing. I am going to try pasting in the base from MCEdit, but I'm not entirely sure it will work and keep the integrity of the terrain-gen.

The latter seems to have worked. I started a new world and copied over the base. Mystcraft books/ages are demolished/borked, but everything else is intact. It's all on a backup save, so I'll play with it more, but unless something changes, all is well aside from having to find a new lava age. Thanks for derping me into the right direction. I should have tried pasting into the new world instead of creating a world around it. :p
