Yeah, that's part of why I won't get rid of EnderIO entirely, the new high tier stuff all looks interesting. I think I can just add a nether start to each of the dark steel armor slots and be done with it. Possibly to the end steel armor as well if need be. I just want people to use some other stuff at first. There's actually quite a few extra dimensions to explore here and I'd rather that content be relevant for like 15 minutes at least, lol. I'll probably just leave the EnderIO enchanter, too. If the idea is to "Breath of the Wild"-ize the armor in the beginning (ie, constantly getting new stuff rather than keeping a set forever) then enchanting should be relatively easy. I'm ok with that.

I'd probably also add nether stars to the Refined Storage control block (I switched it back to RS, i'm ok with simple here, especially for my noobs on my server). I just want people to have a basic functioning storage system first before making that way too easy.

So, really I think I don't need to change too many recipes. I think just setting up a basic quest book should keep things going a bit. Just basic, I want my people to build x before they build y, but really more as a suggestion. I guess I'll just have to stare at the mod list for a few hours and hope that path comes to me.

I've got to think about quests for our pack too, its a bit of a sticking point for me :p

FTB quests could work? Or you could do it via advancements?

The more I sit here just thinking about what quests I'd want to have, the more I'm thinking that I have no idea what the hell I'd want to do there, lol. I'm keeping the quest book to a hard maybe at this point. I might need to play the pack for a while to really get a feel for it, then add quests later. I looked up a tutorial for HQM, it didn't seem that hard to do. The hard part is figuring out what to do next. I can't even do that on my own when I'm playing, let alone figure out what I'm gonna want to do next 30 "next"es from now.

Lost as always
Another mod I've been really into lately for mid to late game power generation is Nuclearcraft. More complex than Extreme Reactors, but not 'beat your head on a desk' finicky like Deep Resonance is. I find it strikes a good balance for a complex yet not punishing high-end energy generation mod.

Rustic really is a good mod for adding in early-game content. In particular the Rustic apiaries, when populated, function as a growth ticker for nearby crops. Which makes sense, bees go out and pollinate the crops, making them grow faster. The rustic potions are also interesting.

If you plan on including the Thermal suite, there's a newcomer you may want to check out, especially if you are tired of RS/AE2. Thermal Logistics. Think Logistic Pipes but explicitly built using the Thermal Dynamics API. The mod itself ONLY adds in the gates that go at the end of the ducts, and plug into the ducts API for everything else, making it relatively low-key but stupidly powerful. Check it out sometime.

This is what this world is going to look like. This is just two of the 20 biomes. The first two I've run into, so I don't even know what's next.

Also, Mo Bends! I always wanted to use that but I don't think it was available the times I've looked before. Was this recently updated?

(there's a little delay when I was trying to teleport, sorry, my keyboard was too far away frm the dongle)

I did not know this!

I need to get more apiaries!

Makeshift modlist (ignore that it's showing straight to c:, i just copied the folder to make the text shorter)

So, I'm having one weird issue. Any kind of fancy armor looks like crap. It's like it's just not allowing any parts to protrude out from the normal armor shape. For example wyvern armor, which is usually all fancy-looking, looks like an orange chainmail. Any ideas?

I have ruled out what I thought was most obvious (conquest reforged and mo bends).

Hours and hours and and hours.

There's a lesson in this, somewhere, I'm sure. But I wasted hours because I was so sure that I had ruled out mo bends that I skipped over it through two waves of methodical disabling and restarting to search for the culprit.

And here's the lesson. If you have 100 mods, and you need to find one random culprit, if you cut the sample in half then half again, no matter what you think you know about any of them, you will find the culprit within 7 resets, max. If you have 200, it capscout at 88. That's assumes narrowing it down to 12% in three to four moves doesn't jog your memory. There's no upside to cherry picking, it can only lead to unnecessary dead ends.

Also, the lesson is that the twitch app is a terrible, terrible, tragic piece of software.

Everything is finalized and up. I couldn't be happier right now!

Just a quick view of the starting area I capture this morning. This is live, this is what my imaginary life looks like normally, not dressed up for a video. This is 4k, so if machines start bogging it down later, I can always downsample. You'll see that even the damn mining dimension looks pretty.

I started it at night just to see the lumen particles and whatnot. I wanted to make sure that it's not only pretty during the day, but the night as well. One of the great things about modded Minecraft is that you can prevent spawning without necessarily lighting everything, so darkness can be part of your palette. We'll see more of this later as the real builds start coming in.

Once I'm able to sleep, you can see what the starting area looks like in the daytime. And these days are 3x longer than normal Minecraft days, so if you get into a real building mode, you don't have to stop every 5 minutes to go sleep. I'll never play it any other way again. And lastly, you'll see me pop open the pre-generated map so you can see just how much more there is to populate. This world is HUGE and I'm hoping eventually to fill quite a bit of it up like a whole living country. This map is, in fact, larger than 7 real world countries by square mileage. It's so big here that I run out of memory trying to show the whole thing.

Server-wise, this is by far the most stable I've run. I've gone from knowing nothing to really feeling like I'm in full control of this one. It's an expensive 10 gigabyte package, which is necessary even for the 5 people currently playing on it. But it runs super smooth, even when everyone is on. I've seen a little bit of lag but I squash it out each time and it's really been a while since I've seen even a blip.

That modlist from before is out of date. It doesn't really explain the pack much, though, so I figure it's better to describe it.

This modpack is for builders. It does have survival stuff and of course it has tech mods, but what it really specializes in is building tools and aesthetics. This is, all things considered, easily the best combination of mods, resource packs, building blocks/tools, shader pack, bonus stuff compilation I've seen. I've meticulously gone through each and every possible setting and config file to ensure that it's as gorgeous as it can be without completely destroying performance, and frankly it runs better than any other large modpack I've played. In fact, it runs better than some of my half-packs that I built JUST for performance. It's also got neat new particle effects, block breaking effects, rain effects, etc, and of course lots of ambient sounds that totally make the experience.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I set up a little shop in the starter town with dragon eggs. For the relatively low price of 1 diamond block each, you can purchase an egg of your choice, hatch it, feed it to grow it, and by the time it's time to really explore this world, you'll be doing so on the back of your own GoT-style fire-breathing dragon.

It even has a killer playlist! https://open.spotify.com/user/12160510977/playlist/1MJswHWQDJ6bbfY58dAmQM?si=MMLLnKIoTcakyquroeKA7g

Well, to be fair, it used to be a killer playlist, but I was pressured into making it longer, so the back half is more "ok".

All together, this is the dream Minecraft experience I've been working towards for YEARS now. This is everything I've learned all in one package. I'm so excited! We haven't even STARTED building stuff yet. This is all early game basic survival stuff.

I can most definitely make that happen!

This weekend will be the first time I get to really just sit there and play, so hopefully we'll get some stuff worth showcasing!

There will be more and it'll be there for you/anyone to read and watch at your convenience :)
