Im a little confused because all this time i was thinking that unleashed was like the most current version and such but i just saw the monster is supposedly the replacement to unleashed? Thats really confusing me because now I'm not sure which one to start playing on. What are some one your opinions versus the too, any one you enjoy playing better, and i know blood magic is only in monster and well i think thats something i wanna try like thaumcraft is there a way to put it in unleashed.. I'm not sure about anything

Blood Magic (AFAIK) is a 1.6.4 and above mod. Monster is the pack that slowpoke is going to be using for the FTB map, which I've also heard it called the replacement for Unleashed.

Monster is the big 1.6.4 pack, it has the new Thaumcraft (awesome), the new IC2 (kinda meh), the new Thermal Expansion (godly), and a ton of cool things that weren't in Unleashed (Rotarycraft/Reactorcraft, Bigreactors etc), more aesthetic mods like Chisel and Geostrata and most of the core mods from previous packs.

On the other hand, it doesn't have EE or Soul Forge, but it does sorta kinda have workarounds for them.

and what does 1.6.4 mean

It means based on version 1.6.4 of minecraft. It has mods updated to use that version of MC. Unleashed was based on 1.5.2 :)

Minecraft version 1.6.4, as compared to version 1.5.2 that Unleashed is on.

I personally would go with Monster over Unleashed, as it's the newer pack and has updated versions of the mods compared to Unleashed.

Edit: Damn ninjas.

@kayla sharp If you ever need help with Monster or even a mod in one of the FTB packs, feel free to PM me. I'm starting up a Monster world sometime this week and know quite a bit about most of the mods in the packs.

If you are new to the game, I would suggest playing the most current one. It'll give you the opportunity to enter into the game while the content is fresh and most discussed. Once you become more experienced with FTB, your progression will become autonomous, meaning that you can do whatever you want and have the knowledge to make the right decision.

Right now it is just a matter of diving in and seeing what you have and don't have. The biggest thing about different FTB packs are the have/don't have, which really define how you go about playing the modpack. These are things you can only learn once you've delved into the game though.

Overall, Monster and Unleashed have introductory level mods, whereas things like Ultimate have Gregtech involved, which is a REAL bitch of a learning curve to get over.
