Even if Soul Shards 2 is added, it is no longer the same mod as it is in 1.5.2. The spawning mechanics is exactly like vanilla spawners except that you can turn it off with redstone signal. You have to stay near it for mob to spawn and it obeys light level. Plus the cost is now a lot greater, requiring you to destroy regular spawners to get the drops to craft them.

Nope, better off to stick with Extra Utilities Cursed Earth for mob essence generation and MFR Auto-spawners for mob farming.
