Monster modpack mob farming?

I know I can use MFR for making mob farms and use portal gun to move vanilla spawners but its kinda like been there done that. Does the pack add anything like soul shards or anything?

Even if Soul Shards 2 is added, it is no longer the same mod as it is in 1.5.2. The spawning mechanics is exactly like vanilla spawners except that you can turn it off with redstone signal. You have to stay near it for mob to spawn and it obeys light level. Plus the cost is now a lot greater, requiring you to destroy regular spawners to get the drops to craft them.

TL;DR version.

Nope, better off to stick with Extra Utilities Cursed Earth for mob essence generation and MFR Auto-spawners for mob farming.

cursed earth + iron spikes = awesome mob loot generator. switch iron spikes to mfr grinders if you need that essence.

monster adds dye trees, which adds a rainbow forest biome, which spawns a lot of passive mobs, including colored sheep. good source of colored wool and xp if you spike them.

Tbh despite using it, I think the old SS system was way too OP. It kinda ruined the experience of the enchantment system due to making xp/enchanted books so easily available. And being able to power everything of one single block pumping out infinite mobs at a ludicrous speed? And lets not forget it could be a real resource hog on servers.

I personally think mobfarms should be used as a way of farming mob drops for your crafting etc. And for that MFR/vanilla/SS2 etc. is still perfect. But I wouldn't rely on them running all the time for power or something like that.

what's a vanilla spawner doing inside a MFR kill chamber? :p heh, reminds me, i made a behemoth on ultimate. i had an 11x11 room built by peasants using stone tools, and inside, lining the walls of the chamber 2 blocks high were grinders. 64 of them. at full tilt it was killing 50-60+ mobs per work cycle. it kept 3 gregtech fusion coils fed producing plasma and iridium, burning witches and turning the redstone into the fuels it needed with tome of alkahest. hax.

on Monster though, check out rotarycraft. it adds some kind of spawner controller.

So after doing a little research I found out you can do some cool mob stuff with rotary craft it just seems so complicated to learn but I like a challenge.

Post the finished system of you get it working. I haven't seen much done with the spawner controller yet.
