My friend can't get on my server, and neither can his roommate. I'm getting these sorts of errors:

It seems to be some block or item that gets created, that the clients cannot cope with. This is a severe problem because I have had to create a new world twice now.

there could be an item in his area that is causing his game to crash, not really sure of a good way to find out what that item may be without knowing what type of things he's built.

One method of trying to fix it and see if that's the issue. Either edit his .dat file to move him to spawn/another location. Or get on voice comms with him, prepare a /tphere Shalmendo, and hit enter when he logs in and you see "Welcome back Shalmendo". He'll most likely crash that time, but when he logs back in again he should be at your location, and if he doesn't crash...you'll know there is something in his area that is causing the crash.

Just a start, might not be the actual issue though...We had a player experience the same issue recently, and this fixed it for him.

Several people have had this issue on my servers. I know that doing what Staxed mentioned above has helped. This issue usually resolves itself from my experience. No need to recreate a world due to it. I also know that removing their player data has sometimes helped. One time i deleted a chunk, and that also solved the issue for 1 person. It is a very weird glitch, cant quite nail it down myself.

Let me expand a little. What the exact issue is, is when I am connected, no one else can connect. When I am not connected, other people can connect. If I connect, everyone else gets kicked, mostly with a Buffer Overflow. I am connecting via 127.0.0.1(localhost) to the local server running on my machine. Ports are forwarded appropriately.

We originally thought it may have been Steam Dynamos, removing them from the world had no change. Removing all .dat files from the world/players folder did not help.

The problem started right as I threw seeds to my friend.

Another friend tried to use a Steam Dynamo with no coal in it, attached to a Redstone Furnace.

This problem happens across server restarts, is reproducible at any time after the initial event. It does not go away by itself, the only fix I've found is to reload the world from backup, and paste in any changes using MCEdit. This is the third time this has happened to me with this version of Monster.

EDIT: Fourth time, now. It just happened again, after restoring from backup about an hour ago.

No, disabling rotarycraft would cause issues and so would updating it. Try what i said in my last post, hopefully that fixes it.

In that post it mentions the vanilla .minecraft folder. Instead of using the .minecraft folder use the FTB folder.

But as for this problem, its the dye trees from reikas buggy pieces of crap he calls a mod (imho). When too many rainbow dye trees (rainbow, not 1 colored trees) are loaded/planted at a given time they will start crashing people near them or really anywhere on the map with a buffer.overflow or a stack.overflow error. This error also happens when running the fusion reactor, that causes a buffer.overflow and constantly crashes anyone. I have banned rainbow saplings from being planted, and this has completely solved this problem for me. Not a single error since i banned them. I also advise people to destroy rainbow trees when they see them so we ca avoid this issue.

Before people comment on my hate for reikas mods... His mods are the center of monster/techworld2. I cannot disable it without causing issues and instability for the rest of the pack. His mods lag so badly that 10 people running too much RC in 1 chunk is enough to start dragging the tps a bit. The amount of chunk updates required and how his mods work are by far the worst for performance. I run my servers on a very powerful dedicated server, and even i have issues with rotarycraft causing my server to start dragging its arse. It also used to constantly cause crashing and chunk corruption before i started limiting it. >.>

Client or server?

I have looked everywhere both client and server and I don't see an options.txt file anywhere.

Our server is just for our family (me, wife, 2 daughters). Should I remove/disable rainbow tree mod or dye trees or something like that?

Or is simply destroying all rainbow trees on sight enough?

At the time of this problem, one of my daughters had just built a pool and built a cover made entirely of rainbow leaves. Could this be what caused our problem?

My wife does a little bit of rotarycraft but not much, and those machines have been running for a few days.

The only things we did right before this all started:

1) One kiddo was building a huge room (approx 20x20x10) to be a moo shroom room (it had a layer of mycelium).

2) Another kiddo had just covered her pool with rainbow leaves.

3) I was in the process of shutting down my golem tree farm (gathering up golems, putting them away, etc.).

You could disable dye trees but it could very easily corrupt your world unless you restart. Simply destroying the leaves for the pool along with any rainbow trees you see should be enough to solve the issue. A small family server wont really run into much issues with rotarycraft and such, that little rant was for larger servers :p

If you want to see just how bad things are, enable the mod opis and explore that (type /opis once enabled). Will tell you everything (100us/ms = .1 seconds. So a chunk at 1000us/ms means it takes the server an entire second to load it).

Many hours later and still everything is good. So it appears to have definitely been those rainbow leaves. What could possibly be so wrong with them? Wow, that's almost impressive.

I should try Opis. I have been told it gives a lot of interesting info for optimizing and fixing things.

It is very impressive that a mod could be so screwed up and bugged and yet not get fixed or have any work done to try and solve that error. Ive completely given up on reika, lol.

And yes, opis is really awesome. I know that with my servers, sometimes we get really bad entity spikes due to one of our plugins not controlling a mod. When it gets out of hand i can hop into opis, find out exactly what the entity spike is, where it is, and all the info about it. I can then hit 1 button and have the problem instantly fixed (for the time being). Entity spikes usually happen (for me) when people are in the promised land for too long, damn pixies. Super handy mod for admins, small server or large.
