As to the whole Porygon debate...
Considering that the fundamental mechanic of Pokéballs is that they convert the Pokémon's physical being into digital code and vice versa (Like AE!), my guess is that someone thought, "Hey! Why don't we just write code for our own Pokémon, and upload into a Pokéball?"

Ok that's a brilliant description of Porygon! It would also explain why there's more versions of it.
Depending on the "graphics card" of the pokeball :3

That makes more sense than my Matrix theory. I like it.

... although it doesn't explain why Ash never seems to age. I gather there's other theories on that, though.

My favourite theory of that is that since he saw the Ho-oh, which is supposed to grant eternal happiness, he would live forever being a pokemon trainer since that is eternal happiness for him.

Thanks to this thread I have both been having to actually learn other people's names (the horror!:eek:) rather than just remember their avatars and have been looking at adorable meomon things on the internet that are tempting me to go to the dark side...thank you:p
