If you really want an open source mod with ore doubling, my mod, Engineer's Toolbox, which has recently been made open source, has ore doubling (and tripling if you manage to set up the extra infrastructure required), in the more recent versions.
It will also hopefully soonish be capable of charging MPS stuff, but doesn't work properly with it yet.
Thanks, mod is great, but I could not find license for it. If you haven't decided yet which to use, probably Minecraft Mod Public License (http://www.mod-buildcraft.com/MMPL-1.0.txt) would be a good choice.
