I like how this has become the Doctor Who thread as well.

So the specials are not considered part of the story line? What?

How does that make even 6 bits of sense? If I remember correctly, we first saw Donna on a Christmas special, and then when she came back as a regular, even The Doctor mentioned that she found him twice.

And yes, we've been to Trenzalore twice now; once when the whole "his grave is discovered" when Clara (didn't she start on a Christmas special, only to die in The Doctor's arms?) had to rescue The Doctor and find the War Doctor by accident? Which was followed by another special with three doctors, and a 4th who did a web-cast special with the regeneration scene? Not to mention the series wrap-up with The Doctor growing old, followed by another "Lets break the 12-regen rule just like the old-school Master did"?

<Sigh>. Consistency. Doctor Who has always been consistent about it's consistency.

Um, I said they're not part of the series, they're ordered separately. This means they're part of the continuity, but not the a particular series - however they'll usually put them in a boxset.
