Mob farm clipping problem, what to do?

Hi helpful FTBers!

I'm playing Skyfactory 2.5, and after making an initial mob farm with 4 spikes at the bottom and either manual or mfr grinder killing them, I realised that witch water would help get my wither skel skulls. So I added some to the fall shaft above some signs, but realized the cave spiders could get through half slab spaces and were getting annoying.

After looking up some designs, I tried one with witch water at the end, after spider and enderman "filters" (spikes), but I'm now having a much bigger problem: Mobs are frequently clipping out of the killzone into open platforms, and rarely get pushed by the conveyor belts the way I'd expect.

Here's a picture showing the clipping...these guys are bumping around a bit but mostly staying in place.

Does anyone know what my issue is? Is it the conveyor belts? I switched to them instead of water (and raised the roof) to allow enderman spawns in the upper spawn chamber, but I notice spiders dropping from the sky sometimes too, clipping out of the sides of the conveyor belt channels. I've tried adding more layers of blocks where I see clipping, but obviously this just isn't working ideally.

Wow. Strange problem. I get mob clipping on my farms sometimes, but that's when they're overcrowded with cows waiting to be slaughtered.

I don't have a solid theory, just two shots in the dark :

1) Hit F9 once or twice and verify you're not crossing chunk boundaries.
2) Make your kill / drop zone slightly bigger. It looks like it's 1x1 in there.

The mob farm I'm currently using uses corpereal attractors in a combination of push and pull mode to get the mobs close enough to the kill machine, whether mob grinder, AA w/sword, etc. They have plenty of (air) space around them, so clipping is not an issue.

Are you sure this isn't a visual problem only? In that case it is normal vanilla behaviour. Too many mobs at the same spot will make them sometimes clip through walls. It is only client side though. The mobs are not really going through the walls.

In an earlier design I had the visual issue now and then, but no, this is them coming out and smacking me in the face.

The drop zone is 3x3 allowing spiders to drop on a single spike in the middle and die before getting to the conveyors. I feel like its the conveyor belts pushing mobs through other blocks...maybe ill try an alternative? oh, wasn't there 'Fans" or something?

I switched from MFR conveyor belts to immersive engineering conveyor belts and the entire setup works perfectly now, no clipping!
