I was exploring some new chunks after I updated my modpack, and saw this!

Is this intentional?

Also, is galena or new? If so, is it's generation biome specific?

Galena is new and yes this intentional, apatite will be a little more rare but when you do find any, it will be in very large veins like this. I recommend using a fortune pickaxe on it if you plan on using the new farm blocks added by forestry.

Apatite sits in barrels in my storage, I never needed it other than first starting a tree/peat farm. I've thought about recycling for scrap more than once..

Do you not need apatite after you set up a farm? I'm newer to forestry so I'm just trying to figure out what all is renewable and needed and what is not.

Though compost and mulch can both replace fertilizer anywhere else, only phosphorous fertilizer ground from apatite gems statisfies these needs of a farm. A single unit of fertilizer equates to 2.000 mU on default settings.

I haven't tested out the new farm blocks since I have been busy with bee and server management stuff but if I assumed 1 operation counts as harvesting and replanting a single tree... Then 28 1/2 stacks would equal about 121 trees. I'll have to test out the farm to see what counts as a single operation though.

edit: This was under the assumption that sand was used to make the fertilizer instead of ash. Otherwise it would be 242 trees.

How do you reach that 121 tree number? Using 15 apatite gems per tree?

Arboretum costs 40mU. If that is per tree, then one fertilizer can harvest/replant 2000/40 = 50 trees. So 28.5 stacks are 28.5*64*8*50 = 729600 trees.

Yeah, 28 1/2 stacks is way crazy. That's over 1800 pieces of apatite.

Sounds a little like what happened to my world. Apparently ore generation goes completely out of whack when you increase the vein size past a certain point, and this caused me to have absolutely ridiculous copper veins. Here's what I attempted to do:

In the TE config, I took the number of veins and the amount of blocks per vein, did some multiplication, and came to the conclusion that there was an average of about 36 copper per chunk, with a maximum of 72. So instead of having these 9 veins of up to 8 pieces each, I went and spent one vein of up to 72 pieces. This should still yield the same average number of copper per chunk, but contentrated into one vein instead of 9. I say "should" here, because that's not what happened. I did get my one vein per chunk, sure, but instead of roughly 36 blocks, each one contains over two thousand blocks. More than a chest full of 64-stacks of unmacerated copper ore, every single vein.

With tin, I specified two veins with a maximum of 36 blocks each, which should again be the same amount as copper, except spread over two veins. These, too, went way out of bounds, but not anywhere near as crazy as copper. Instead of an average of 18, I get around three stacks per vein, so less than 200.

All the other ores that were defined with vein sizes below 10 are completely normal.

I think SirSengir fell into the same trap as I did when I wanted to make my singular large veins. Ore generation just doesn't seem to want to work like that, and any vein size above 15 is probably going to yield way more than intended.

No he did not. This is a intentional change. Apetite now spawn ins single huge veins only ABOVE Y-levle 50(could also be 60 not sure).

Sigh, another Ore that no doubt I'll hardly ever need, like Apatite.

Not too sure if I'm that keen on these new mutli-block farms. They just feel like being multi-block for the sake of it because everyone else is on the multi-block wagon.

Intentional change to have a single vein yield 1800+ apatite? I doubt it. Even with fortune that's a minimum of 200 blocks of ore. I don't believe for one second that this is the amount needed for the mod to work - 10% of this would probably suffice.

I'll second that. These multiblock machines are more annoying than fun.

Yeah, that sounds about right. The veins I have been finding have about one and a half stacks of silked ore.
