okay, so been trying to wrap my head around getting some power started in the mindcrack pack, but i cant seem find out, its either too expensive or too hard, so i was wondering if anyone could tell me which is the cheapest form of power in the mindcrack pack, water mills are insane hard/expensive for the little amount of power they provide, solar panels are too expensive, anything else i dont know how to do.. please help?

Just use normal Generators until you can afford the better choices. And also, IC2 is not the only mod in the pack, you can start with BC power, too.

For IC2 power, generators burning charcoal are a good start. You should be able to get those up to geothermal generators after a bit, and eventually supplement with solar.

For BC power, hobbiest steam engines are great. You can replace with magmatic once you start finding lava to feed your geothermal generators above. Eventually you will want to replace with some form of railcraft boiler system.

All IMO

As the saying goes, cheap, simple, efficient. Choose two.

There are a couple options for the early game.

The simplest and easiest, though, is probably to just plant some trees, cut them down, and burn them for fuel. You can stick them into an IC2 generator, or (if you're into doubling ores and don't have diamonds) into a BC stirling engine. (As a side note, setting up a Sawmill, sawing the wood, then burning the planks will give you slightly more energy than charcoal.)

Once you get a little more bronze going, you could investigate peat farming - building a Peat Bog and a Turbary requires a bit of bronze, dirt and sand, but once you get that going, you'll have quite a bit more fuel than you'll know what to do with. (I recommend combining an Igneous Extruder and a Pulverizer to get the sand for that, by the way.) Peat is great, too- you can burn it in any engine/generator, not just the peat engine.

Later on, you can either pump lava for energy - although in the new release that's coming out, that is actually quite expensive - or you could set up a biomass system.

Hmm.. I missed that point last time I read your post, please explain what you're talking about. The only lava-related change I saw was GT nerfing what you can get running lava in a centrifuge.

What I did was that I ran on a few hobbists and a single generator until I got my jetpack.

Then I got myself a t5 blaze spawner and two 36 hp boilers.

Things just sort off went from there.
