I am so happy that I came across this thread, thank you. Those blue slimes are such a nuisense. I think I'll go with the moat option, I like the idea of hordes of monsters being stopped by a moat.

well, now with TC4, you could try using those warded stone things that acts like a fance. perhaps it's range is long enough to stop blue slimes from hopping over them...

Did you try destroying the slime island or just bucketing all the slime water? It seems like they spawn only in slime water, but I don't remember which version of TiC that starts in.

Tartarus.. I mean at work. Same thing really.
Build a greenhouse over it; it'll give cover from skeletons and stop spiders getting in.
-Applied energetics offers some neat looks glass with connected textures, and glass the glows.

This was from testing some forestry stuff, half height and no water-roof should work for IC2 stuff
(middle block in every window is the vibrant glass)

Speaking of annoying mobs over spawning - If anyone has an in-game solution for bats, I'll love you forever.

As someone said, tesla coils are great for slimes. Have just set up a bit of a perimeter myself using them. The materials aren't that bad.

depends on how many coils- but the the running cost which makes it interesting.
2Eu/t/coil I think.
(you could half this with a daylight sensor to turn them off during the day, and a large enough battery)

Totally on the aside your woes are not premitent. The new versions of TiCo has moved the blue slime army to just the new floating slime island. So while it does not help you now you can rest assure in a later update you will not have to worry about the army of slimes as much.

Ah do they have a constant power draw now? Last time I used tesla coils I just had a solar charge up an mfsu, and the Coil only used power when it was actively killing stuff.

Build a taller fence?
Something that I do quite often. I use something like Smooth sandstone wall for lowest level and then place fence on top. Looks quite nice imo.
Also quite like the idea of the natura Bush hedges. It would look all natural.
Another option is building some wrath lamp lampposts around your house. Will keep the mobs from spawning. Just make sure to place the lamps 8 blocks away from things that grow(invisible light sources can interfere with growth).

Doesnt looks so bad with some microblock decorations:

Or worse still UNDER those islands...

Great first base start in RR, "Phew looks like no slimes out and about" *leaves house* Large slime lands on head...

and I believe I actually saw mdiyo experimenting with slimes so that they could eat you :p
