I have an IC2 crop setup that these little buggers just totally wreck, is there a way to keep them away or kill them in proximity other than iron golems?

EDIT: Playing Unleashed v1.1.3

You could try to setup some turrets either from portalgun (protect them in iron bars) or use steave's carts for a mobile solution. Both would work just keep an eye on the ammo for the carts. And don't use to many portalgun turrets cause I almost killed a server with them once. Had a soul shard mob farm with about 30 of them plus another 18 around the perimeter of my base. Killed the tps since my base was chunk loaded.
Without knowing what modpack you are using I can't give a better answer as I don't know what your options are.

Instead of a water moat you could create a lava moat, only problem is that you may trip up sometime and land in it yourself. o_O

3 wide 2 deep water moat, once they get in they can't jump out.

Instead of a water moat you could create a lava moat, only problem is that you may trip up sometime and land in it yourself. o_O

I have wooden fence posts and such. Wood + Lava, y'know?

The Magnum Torches and Chandelier things from Extra Utilities will keep mobs from spawning in an area.

My friend said that as I get further in my Thaumic research it may be worth investing in some Advanced Thaumostatic Magnetizers to repel them.

Or you can set it to attract them and drop them into a hole or something along those lines. I thought the range on them was pretty short though.

Sorry I had them backwards. The Magnum torch is the smaller and it does 16 x 16.
Chandelier is 16x16. Magnum torch is 64x64 sphere with the torch at the center.

As for the issue I normally do a "double" layer fence around my IC2 crop breeding:

Fence
-air-
Fence
Ground

I haven't had an issue with them since.

Maybe build a platform like 5 or 6 blocks above the ground to grow everything in.
Build a few support pillars and some stairs going up to it to make it look all pretty like and that should do it.
Unless they are spawning in the fields themselves.

Two other options, that are not in-game:
* Reduce the spawn rate in the Tinkers Construct config (I think, it was 8 originally. Take it down to 2 or 3)
* Update the Unleashed pack or at least Tinkers Construct. Later versions get rid of the spawns and introduce the floating islands instead. (Again, take the spawn rate down or they spawn way too often.) And when you get some saplings for the trees on the islands, then you don't need any slime spawn at all anymore. Just farming the trees will get you enough green and blue slime balls.

The in-game solution for me was to use Natura's berry bushes as fences. They grow 3 high, no slime was able to get through there.
