I really liked the original forestry farms. Don't like the multiblocks at all. Very little I can't do with MFR at this point. I find the individual farming machines implementations(original forestry and mfr) give me more freedom in farm design/layout/placement and allow for more "what if I tried this?" scenarios.

I used to make an old Forestry peat farm as my first energy producer, powered by itself. Then followed by a tree farm for wood, not charcoal.

The newer Multifarms require so much more resources that they're a later-game machine. I haven't used peat since the old farms were removed :(

Forestry managed gourd farms are still the best way to gather melons and seeds.
No. AE intersection planes. As soon as it is appears, it goes straight into your AE Network. Best way to gather melons and pumpkins. And doesn't require a whole multiblock farm.

Multiblock farms are best for Orchards for seed oil and fruit juice. That's about it.

i see the difference between Forestry farms and MFR farms sort of like the difference between a Mac and a PC.

on the Forestry side, you have a standardized model that works one way and works well enough, with little maintenance.

on the MFR side, there's not really any standard, as the machines are more like parts than whole systems. you can mix and match sizes and even parts from other mods, to be 'better' or 'worse' than forestry, depending on the need.

only question left is, are you a Mac, or a PC? =P

That actually sounds like Mac vs Linux to me. After all, there are no viruses, the systems are stable, and it doesn't install security backdoors into your kernel.

Where intersection planes even a thing back when I made that comment? We where still mostly 1.4 back then right?
