Hey guys,

So I'm making a massive lake in my mystcraft world. The world has no water in it. It also has no sun as it's overcast. It is a plains biome.

I am in creative mode.

I have been trying a few methods. So far I think the best one for me is using the wand of equal trade to transform the ground into ice, then placing wrath lamps around the place. Then I plan to go beneath the blocks at the bottom of that and setting of a nuke or two.

I want this thing to be huge.

I still feel theres got to be a better way.

Also, even though it's a plains biome, the ground is not flat. So I will have to manually smooth out the work area.

I thought about using a quarry or filler but I'm not proficient enough with them to use them.

Do you have any ideas?

RP2 Pump, and I don't know, can Builders copy liquids? I guess it doesn't matter, Builders are disabled anyway.

Yeah, I'ma go with a RP2 Pump and close the lid on the lake unless you know exactly how many blocks of water to add. Mind you, I've heard that you can lag out your game something fierce if you try to pump more water in then the thing can hold. Or was that draining? I honestly don't remember.
Anyway, I still suggest making a lid. Just seems like good form to me.

Also, if you're in Creative I'd suggest getting a Liquid Duplicator(assuming you're playing Ultimate) to ensure you have enough water.(place bucket of water in Duplicator and pump away! I don't know if it'll work with RP2 pumps though, so you may need a liquid buffer as well)

Honestly, Liquid Duplicators are pretty smart. I'd even suggest using one if you intend on building a Nether Pump system. Or if you get the Oil Symbol for Mystcraft and manage to make a Oil Ocean age, just to cut lag.

I'm using Direwolf. That liquid duplicator sounds cool though... too bad... :/

About the RP2 pump, where would I be pumping the water from?

I dunno. I guess I could just make a giant pit of water somewhere and pump from that.

The thing is, this thing will be so big it would be hard to cap it off.[DOUBLEPOST=1368733268][/DOUBLEPOST]I coulda done this in 2 seconds with world edit! Haha... :/

I recall a SPC command which "fixed" water near the player when used. Made making lakes look natural really easy.
Unless you're playing on a server, I'd suggest installing Single Player Commands even just for this.

Here are a few pics.

I'm making a Silent Hill inspired adventure map.

You start in this tunnel:

But anyways, Here's my lake:

Uuuuhg. Yeah this would onnly be a small corner. I set off a nuke (beneath the ice bridge) and then tried to make a lattice of ice blocks to melt. That just wont work. I would be doing that forever.

In the top left you can see where I'm trying the wand of equal trade technique. I'm using an army of turtles to flatten the land, and then using the wand and an infinite ice block to turn the land to ice.

I'm then going to place wrath lamps to melt it.

To make it deep, I'm going to tunnel beneath it and set off more nukes.

If your using DW make an ocean Biome and use Ender tanks from Ocean world to your lake.

How can I quickly and easily power some machines? I can spawn in a charged redstone energy cell, right? Is there a way to hook that up the a quarry or filler?

Energy cells will work with quarries yes. I use them to run my quarries. Energy Cell/Wooden Conductive pipe/Golden Conductive Pipe into the side of the Quarry. Pipe from the top into chests.

Light the nuke on the surface, creating a crater. Smooth the shape until you are happy. You should not have any water nearby for this portion, as IC2 actually nerfs the blast resistance of water so that nukes destroy it.

Now cover the entire crater surface in cobble, then use the wand of equal trade to replace it all with ice. Now melt it using torchs.

Boom, there's your lake. If you don't got that much ice, hook a RP2 pump up and fill everything underneath the cobble with water.

Hmm, this is trickier than I expected. I can put water blocks into a filler and get it to place one, but it doesn't know what to do with it after that. I think it's trying to replace the one water block it placed with another one (since solid blocks would normally take water's place), and can't do it. I tried placing ice and having a turtle mine it, but that just breaks the ice. Right now I have a turtle going back and forth with water blocks in its inventory and placing them. Looks like that might be the easiest thing to do, but you'll probably have a bit of difficulty with an irregularly shaped hole. If you don't care about filling in the lake with solid source blocks all the way down (which a lot of these solutions posted don't), you could just have it place down a layer on top, which should be relatively easy.

That would make a lake mostly composed of flowing water(the first idea, that is).

Blast away with tnt/nuke/mining laser then use a filler to fill it in with ice. THEN wrathlamp. Or RP2 pump if you're on 1.4.7

That's a cool idea. Is it practical for such a large lake though? I havent used the endertank very much.
What kind of set up would you use?

What kind of program are you using??? I've wanted to know how to make turtles pave and lay blocks for ages!

Yeah that's kinda what I've been trying to do. The problem is the ice beneath the surface stays frozen.

At the moment I'm just replacing grass with ice and melting it. (thats the water in the middle of the picture, and ice in back.)

This might be ok with most people, but I'd really like a deep lake. This one you can see the blocks beneath it, and in some cases un-melted ice.

It looks like crap. Yet I am determined. In FTB, anything is possible.
