Unsupported Magic Farm : 1.6.4 Bug Reports {PUBLIC BETA}

Im not exactly sure if this is just my bad gameplay or what, but it seems like iron is out of reach for me. Flint is supposed to be able to mine it according to Materials and You, but it can not.

Am I supposed to level my mining skill first or is that a bug?
