Hey guys - so I wanted to use a power system which involved crafting eyes of ender and transferring them to an array of Magic Energy Converters.

But when I try to place an eye of ender in the device it's not using it - I looked at the recipes that can be used in NEI and eyes of ender arent even there....

Is this a bug of some sort? Playing ultimate 1.0.2

I made the same mistake. Most disappointing. Then I looked at what else DOES work, got myself a T5 wither skeleton soul shard, and started feeding it nether stars.

Not a very fast energy production system but fairly low maintenance if you don't want to power anything serious off it. I guess if you wanted to put them into mass production you could have an auto-crafter setup feeding weapons to melee XP turtles feeding enchanted items to the magic converters, but... not really worth while in my eyes.

Sorry, had got mixed up about the posts above due to similar avatars. Thought you'd been trying to feed in pearls. Actual eyes should work, or did last I tried them.

Ender pearls are exceedingly cheap, so I'd assume it's intentional that they're not accepted. Build a platform away from the main island in the End, build a tower for endermen to fall off... you're soon swimming in the things. In my world I can collect pearls faster then I can collect cobble.

Odds are you could automate ender eye generation if you wanted to, but at the end of the day you'll never get more then 24EU/tick out of this thing. Three advanced solar panels about equal that and don't need to be fed, though there are much cheaper and more effective (and cool) power supplies then that - one of my bases is powered by a single Demonic bee, for example.

(Though collecting the skulls of my enemies (to get nether stars) was pretty cool for a time, too).

Yeah I could run the Magic Energy Converters off of Ignis Bees (I think they produce Fire Shards which is 32,000 eu in the converter) but that requires a lot of Bee breeding (and i'm not really in a bee breeding mood :p).
