I just recently got a certain $250 "laptop" that I "modded" to run Linux. It has an Intel Celeron N2840 (its 64 bit), Intel HD Graphics (not sure what model), 2GB of ram, a VERY fast 16GB SSD, and no hard drive. Sound familiar? It gets about 45-80 FPS on vanilla with low settings, so I was wondering if there exists a modpack that MIGHT get a playable framerate on this. (I used to have another low-spec computer, so "playable" is 15+ FPS.)

Sorry, I should have put this in the first post but I was hoping to find a pack for 1.7 that did that. If one is not out yet though then I will just have to be content with 1.6 for a while.

I have personally not dabbled with 1.7 much yet, but from what I hear it is so bad in performance respects that I doubt you will find a satisfactory "low resource pack". I suspect 1.8 will be much much better though.

But 1.7 added multithreading...

I would strongly consider FTB lite or go back and look at a 1.4.7 or 1.5 pack with Optifine(test if you gain a benefit from it) if it was me.

Isn't FTB Lite available for 1.7.10 in beta state in the FTB Launcher ?

I would use FTB lite as starting framework and then add/remove mods you like/don't like and limit the amount of mods. Maybe < 15.
Also, some mods are heavy CPU or FPS graves. Especially those where items or microblocks are moving or those who have many block updates and visible effects.
e.g. AE 1 (blinking conduits, AE 2 is more efficient I think), Rotary Craft (moving parts), BuildCraft (Pipes, Quarries), ... and similar.
Try to avoid those if your system is not the fastest.

Sadly, I got into FTB as some friends introduced me to a relatively all-the-things FTB pack for MC 1.4.7 that ran with reasonable success on 32bit system with 1Gb of RAM and a ~256m video card. That included BoP iirc.
I say sadly as now, even the lite packs run laggy and do not include nearly enough mods to keep the world interesting...
