Looking for some base ideas

Hi guys

Since our last server crashed last weekend we had to start all over again. We've set up shop in a small temporary 9x9 (i know ) house just to get a good supply of resources together. Now we are looking to build a new base but I'm out of ideas.

The last one I built was ok, using concrete and red rock but it did consume about 1000 iron ingots to make the concrete .
I like building a complex so not everything is under one roof but I've done it so many times it's becoming old.

I've considered building a giant companion cube but that is not very original either. Perhaps some of you could give me some ideas on what to build. I'm not a fan of building underwater or building towers (they are just not as practical I find).

Maybe a few domes scattered around made out of glass or marble, and all connected by a stevescarts/railcraft network its simple but effective

If you don't fancy building up in a tower, underwater, or out in a complex .. might I suggest down?

Excavate a square of chunks from layer 60 or so down to bedrock and build something funky. Perhaps something like the hive from resident evil?

You could also try living in the Nether (A force-field enclosed floating island alive with greenery and vegetation?) or in the End (a space station, perhaps built into the side of an asteroid?

usually I tell people that their thread is a duplicate of tons of other threads and why not just look there... but this time I said I might as well give a real suggestion. If you can live in a giant Iridium penis (with added beacon) then you are amazing. /thread
