Hello Everyone.

I have been recently interested in starting a Let's Play for Twitch or YouTube but I want to add as many mods as possible to the pack.

I know that there are some mods like Mo' Creatures and Optifine that you can't get perms for in a modpack so I won't be distributing this, especially since I will have a major uproar about getting permissions.

I will start off the list and when people post more I will add it

Provided you do not distribute the mods you can use whatever mods you want if they are released to the public.

Provided they use Forge or ModLoader they should all be compatible in theory. In practice some mods are overzealous or implement Forge poorly and cause clashes.

Even so, it would be faster to list the mods that don't work than the mods that do. Ars Magica is the most prominent example of a mod that doesn't play nice with others by accident. Better Than Wolves is deliberately designed to not play well with anything and doesn't run on Forge at all.

Other than that? You should be OK so long as you bother to resolve block ID conflicts yourself.

Oddly treecapitator and optifine in my game lead to weird conflicts where the tree would drop wood but would still be there until I left and came back. Also, logistic pipes, which will hopefully be in the main pack eventually, as soon as the original author updates =/

That's just the Forge/Optifine block update conflict bug that it seems half of the FTB userbase is suffering from. Update your Forge and Optifine and bam! that bug's gone.

If you have any questions about getting this kind of morass working in MultiMC, feel free to PM.
One thing I should advise is that when you start getting this many mods (>100ish) NEI will start to melt and cry and crash from all the item rendering (ie "Out of PermGen space")--you'll want to add -XX:MaxPermSize=768m to your launch arguments so that it has more permanent generation memory to work with. Also, I'd highly recommend using Sephrik's Config Pack--which is somewhere on these forums--as a base for your mod configs, since it'll make you tear your hair out much less getting all the commonly used mods to agree with each other.

Also, this all works pretty well as a server version (although getting players to get all this stuff configured since I can't just redistribute it is a pain in the keester). For this kind of mod load, I'd recommend 1GB of memory for a client and 2-4GB for a small-size private server.

Thanks Guys, updating the OP now.

Don't stop now though, keep firing more extra mods at me!

P.S. Please tell me if you run into any compatibility problems between any of the mods as I have not tried installing them

try flan's mod it adds planes/weapons/cars into the game.

by the way it is compatible as far as I have tested. also i recommend an auotswitching mod so you can mine faster.

As I said Dravarden, this is a page that talks about whether mods are compatible. That link talks about whether they can be used in a pack for distribution. I am not distributing this pack when it is made

Realistically no they can distribute whatever they please too.

All the 'don't distribute' stuff is only as good as the lawyer you're willing to pay and their ability to convince a court to enforce.

The matter of permissions and their validity is highly debatable as you point out, however my previous advice rules out any risk of bruised egos. ;)

Just so that I can get this straight with everyone.

This is a thread about a list of mods that are and aren't compatible with the modpacks.

I created this because I knew very little mods apart from the ones in the current ModPacks and I wanted to know some others and as many as possible at that.

Think of this as a mod promotion for mods that aren't in the packs already.

can you please show me that list? see this is what I am saying, I want a list of all the mods that have forge and lots of other ones.

Telling me that it is all the mods compatible with forge isn't enough. I don't know all the forge compatible mods.
