Lavastone crashing my game?

Soo...I decided to use a lava stone to power a steam dynamo and it was working, except that when I went to go check on it, it was a weird, messed up item without a texture or anything and when I tried to take it, my game crashed and now I can't load my save file without crashing.

How would I get rid of the problematic item?

I think I encountered a thread like this a few days ago, something with texture problems.
Now; in your case, MCEdit would probably be best; just go into your world and remove it.
