Hey I was wandering if anyone one can help me, I updated to the new launcher but when I click on it I get the loading symbol and after 2 seconds it stops? I tried again and waited for ten minutes but still the launcher did not even open?

Same problem here. I have been trying to get the launcher to work for the past few days and still nothing has happened. just the red text of errors in the console and nothing else. I hope this gets a fix soon, been waiting to play the new packs.

Does everybody with this problem have Windows Vista? Experienced this problem twice, with different computers. Both had vista and all error reports i'v seen are saying they use vista.

Seems to be a bug of how Vista is named or something. May be when the launcher scans for system details. I don't know. But it seems Vista related.

Also(This happened on both java 6 and 7.)

EDIT:
Just saw two reports that happened on Windows 7 and 8. Weird.

EDIT(Another one):
Seems it is something to do with version numbers. Im not to advanced at java but to anyone that is, I did some snooping and found this:
Code:
    String[] s = this.version.split("\\.");
and this:
Code:
    this.revision = Integer.parseInt(s[2]);
The version variable gets its information from all over the place but it looks like its collecting it correctly. Also, this is where its throwing the error. Sadly there isn't a quick fix. (Is there?)

So I had the same issue with trhe same error output as Mattimus. I resolved it by performing all of the steps in this guide. I found I had a few versions of Java installed. Once I deleted them all and only installed the latest Java 7 build, the launcher opened properly. If this helps please spread the word. I've been seeing a lot of posts about this error.lately.

i got a similar problem mine just tell me servers are down yet my mate can still get on this is what my console says http://pastebin.com/cd5UwD28

I'm no expert with Java or the FTB launcher, but this seems to be a connection issue. Specifically this line from the log: Completely unable to download the modpack file - check your connection: java.net.SocketException: Permission denied: connect

Is there anything that could be blocking your download? AV or Firewall? Also silly question but you do have internet access correct?
