I've been working recently on a processing plant for my laser drill that automatically crushes/smelts/makes the ores it produces useful, however some of the ores i'm receiving don't want to go into any machine
  • Ruby Ore (Biomes O' Plenty)
  • Sapphire Ore (Biomes O' Plenty)
  • Tanzanite Ore (Biomes O' Plenty)
  • Topaz Ore (Biomes O' Plenty)
  • Malachite Ore (Biomes O' Plenty)
  • Peridot Ore (Biomes O' Plenty)
  • Apatite Ore (Forestry for Minecraft)
I was wondering if anyone here knew of a machine set up i could build that either automatically mined these ore when imputed, or of a machine that maybe places the blocks down and then mined them, because as i'm looking through the crafting recipes i can't find any other way to get the materials from them other than placing them down and mining them by hand.

You can use 2 autonomuos activators. One to place them and one with a pick to break them, but they will require power in the newest version and a way to recharge/repair the tools. You can also use a MFR block smasher. If you give it mob essence, it will get Fortune enchantment. A vacum hopper from open blocks or a vacum chest from Ender IO can be used to collect the drops. You could also use a hopper under where the blocks are placed and it would collect the drops as well.

use two autonomous activators like previously mentioned, have one right click, and make it so those ores go into there.

Then in the second activator, put in an etheric pick. Any pick will do, but etheric is unbreakable, so you don't have to deal with replacing the pick when it breaks. If you care at all, you can add fortune to the pick so it adds bonus drops.

EDIT: This will also work with diamonds and redstone and whatnot

ME Formation Plane to place. Mining Turtle to break (unless fortune is really important, but seeing as you have infinite ores coming...), and have the turtle place the resultant drops into a ME Interface.

I thought the title meant that you were making a plant to make laser drills and prechargers to scatter around everywhere. I was wayyyy off :p

I like this idea better actually, but I'd stick with the autonomous activator with etheric pick for the breaking, I don't like turtles, and as far as I know you can't add fortune or anything. At the very least he might want to add efficiency so it goes quicker.

WARNING: I tried to solve this very problem with the MFR block breaker with the DW20 1.7 and it crashed my world. I had to disable the mod and restart my server then replace ALL the MFR blocks in my world.

I would go with the formation plane and the turtle that's pretty awesome there.

I know you can't fortune the turtle, but since he has unlimited ores coming in, I feel it doesn't really matter. 2xInfinity is no better than infinity, IMO. I opted turtle because the break it instant (no efficiency needed) and can be done with very simple script. Also, AAs require power now, and the turtle doesn't.

At the point where you have multiple laser drills running around the clock, it doesn't really matter. Its all an exercise in excess. Speed of operation is the only bottleneck from here on out.

If you don't care about fortune, Formation and Annhilation planes are super fast to turn them into gems. Unless you need them however, you can just void them.

F-A

Where F is the formation plane, - is a gap and A is the annhilaiton plane. Makes sure they are set up to face each other, and set the formation plane like you would a storage Bus. It's probibly best to put it on a subnetwork, where the main network stores the ores to break in a chest, and the small subnetwork, imports from this chest and formation planes it.

I personally use the MFR block smasher. I believe it causes no lag, works pretty well and you don't need to check on it. What would also work is a draconic pickaxe in an autonomous activator with autonomous activators in a 7x7 wall. Then get all your ores into an enderchest. From there on you can use the hyper-rationing pipe to get all the ores in the activators.

Since there are fewer than 9 ores, you could theoretically set this up microscopically:

I
SA
F-

I is an interface from the main network, storing the ores.
S is a storage bus reading the ores in the interface.
F is the formation plane
A is the annihilation plane
- is the block placed.

The storage bus is reading the items in the interface, and once they're broken, storing them there again. Doing it around the corner, means you only need three cables, plus one piece of quartz fiber for power from the main system.

Actually I used it to also handle coal lapis and Redstone, I believe either way it ended up being upwards of 12
