LAN World problems

I'm trying to play ftb with my brother, i set up a single player world and press 'Open to LAN'. After i do this it says 'Local Game Hosted On Port (Different Numbers Every time.)'. But the lan world does not show up on my brothers mulitplayer list. When he opens up a world and again presses 'Open To Lan' it shows up to me but i am unable to connect to it. Anyone know whats wrong with what i'm doing?
(We both are on the same router connection.)

Even though you are on the same router you will most likely have to set up port forwarding so that the router knows where to send the connection request. This site as good instructions on how to do it with lots of routers.

There's a bug with 1.6.4 MC (if that's what you're playing) whereby you can't have been playing multiplayer and then switch to single/LAN play. Exit completely from MC (on both), reload, then go into single player, load the world and Open to your LAN, then whoever is connecting has to go into multiplayer and connect to the LAN session.

To those in the know it's likely something to do with tokens and switching from internet play to LAN play or something. I have the same issue when playing MC with my daughter on the LAN.
