Hi everyone. I just downloaded FTB today, and it is VERY laggy. On average I get about 10 FPS, but sometimes it drops down to 1-4 FPS.

Computer Specs:
ASUS A53E-AS31
4 GB RAM (3.78 GB usable)
Intel Core i3 2350M 2.3 GHz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

The RAM allocation is at 1 GB maximum.

Could anyone help me decipher the problem?

Are you sure you installed the 7-bit version of Java?

Funny.
But yes. Have you got java 64bit installed and no other version..?
Uninstall all javas and redownload 64 bit version.

No I don't. How do I install it with FTB?

You'll need to get the 1.4.6/1.4.7 compatible version.
Open FTP launcher and select "edit mods"
Under the second tab (first being main mods. Third being core mods) intmods.. I think.
Click add mod button.
Select your optifine downloaded file.

Run game as normal.

If i'm going to be totally honest, i'm not sure Optifine will help you, i simply think your CPU is to bad.
With vanilla minecraft, what's your average FPS?

Well, optifine is probably your only choice then, but even with optifine, i think you will get unplayable FPS when it comes to FTB, or any other major modpack.
I dont know what the rules arround links here for downloads are, but it seems like you downloaded the wrong Optifine version.
Try googling "optifine 1.4.7" without the quotation marks and it should be the first link.

IF the homepage feels a bit sketchy, use VirusTotal s online scan before opening the zipfile, or any other virus program you might have installed.

I dont think there is an official release that supports 1.4.7, i might be wrong though, i got my 1.4.7 optifine from a 3rd party site though.

There is no Optifine "release" specifically for 1.4.7 because the 1.4.6 version is compatible with 1.4.7
