So I just watched the ISS fly over, here are the photos I took to save you going outside to watch. Photos are a 30 second exposure at about F/11 100ISO shot on a Nikon D5100 using a 55-200 lens.

That's... Amazing. I didn't expect it to leave a trail like that, I was told it looked like a moving star.

It's a 30 second exposure, the "line" is a result of the dot moving across the sky for 30 seconds. You can see that the stars are actually very short lines as well.

If it's clear enough tonight I might drive out a few miles and take a better shot without all the light pollution from the street lamps. Which reminds me its passing over the UK for the next few days so if you want to see it now is the time! There are apps to tell you when its over for andrioid and iOS, just search ISS

Dosent the ISS pass quite often? Well even then the difficulty is all the clouds and light pollution make for a bad photo. You caught the ISS at a good time there is no doubt about it.

I say it now now because its the only real time we have clear sky in the UK so its the best time to see it. I just did this right next to my house but then I don't really live close to much. About a 20 min drive form where I live is one of the largest space telescopes in the UK so I'm in a fairly good place for this kind of thing anyway but if I went out there I'm sure i'd get some really good shots, need to do that some day.
