So i have been working on a 1.12 modpack and im trying to stay close to vanilla as possible. Just want a few opinions on some mods. Do any of you think forestry and journeymap are to op trying to stay close to vanilla?
I have already removed the grave mod i had in. Grave mod would just seem to cheaty. All the rest of the mods i have in are more for aestetics and blocks. Like quark, corail pillar, terraqueous, things like that.
See, I think grave mods are honestly a quality of life thing. There's nothing fun about having to run back and gather up all your stuff before it despawns - I'm willing to bet a fair few vanilla players use the KeepInventory command, which is even cheatier! At least a grave you still have to recover.
Forestry can get OP, but it takes such an extreme amount of hard work, trial and error and fighting RNG when just using default forestry bee breeding, that if you can manage it you deserve the OP stuff!
As for journeymap, it
can be used in an OP fashion because you can use the waypoints to teleport etc. If you wanted to go a bit more vanilla-ey but bringing in some map functionality, then bibliocraft has the atlas function - if that's in 1.12, it could be worth a look.
EDIT: Just FYI, I checked and bibliocraft is out for 1.12 - its something I'd recommend you have a look at, as it adds in some very nice functionality while maintaining a very "vanilla" feel. And the atlas works WITH vanilla Minecraft maps, which also nice.
