ok I had this problem (still have it ) and I can only solve it if I can get more ram for Java.... http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/java-crashing.28570/#post-390280

I heard from my bro that I might be able to modify it so that java will give me 2 or mabye 2&1/2 gigs of ram

anyone heard of this? and if so HOW

my bro says he knows how but he will NOT tell me
if it does not really esist just post real quick that you don't think it does
then I will have leverage to get my bro to tell me if his idea is real

(mind you... im rather nontech savvy so if possable keep it simple)

Java already uses more than the 1GB of ram you assign it. What you assign is just what is known as the heap. Java uses two other memory spaces called PermGen and CodeCache. On a 32bit system, CodeCache is set at 1GB. PermGen is set to fluctuate to what's needed, which can flux to almost 1GB at times.

So with this in mind, Java is attempting to use up to 3GB of your 4GB of RAM. Since your OS and other programs are also trying to use this, your system will become memory starved.

TL,DR
Don't let your brother mess with your computer. Upgrade.
