Issues logging into server with Infinity

Details of the issue:
My husband is having difficulties entering the server we are playing on. He had an item spawned into his inventory via the server console, and it crashed his game, as well as the FTB launcher. We went through to find his .dat file, removed it, and he is still unable to log into the server. We no longer know what to do.​

Do you have any backups? If so i would just reload the back ups. I make backups every hour or so on my personal servers.
