Is This Laptop Any Good?

Hey all!

First off, I'm sorry if I've posted this in the wrong area, I'm a bit of a idiot when it comes to this sort of thing. If I need to move this thread please let me know and I will ASAP.

I've played FTB Lite on my current laptop and it struggles to play it (even with optifine) so thought it's time for a little improvement but I'm not made of money so looking to you guys and gals for help!

Do you think this laptop will be able to ply FTB DireWolf20 with decent FPS? I hope it is as it's just in my price range...

That should run it fine with proper tweaking ( because 1.7.10 is such a mess.. ), but are you really sure you need a gaming laptop?

For that price you could get an extremely good gaming desktop, then just use your current laptop when you need something mobile. The difference would be immense. Typically 2-3 TIMES the performance for the same or even less price. NTM a proper desktop would be highly upgradeable, saving even more money in the future. ( My current computer is something like 8 years old and still playing modern games pretty much at max thanks to small upgrades over the years ) Alsk, the typical lifespan of a laptop is significantly lower than a desktop.

Aye I was thinking about a desktop but I'm on the move quite a bit (joys of long distance relationship and travelling for meetings etc) but it's something I will look into but it's good to know that laptop will handle the game, thank you so much!

You may want to invest in an external cooling pad if you go for the lappy.

These 'gaming laptops' run very hot- even when new.​

You'll also want a power socket near by when gaming, otherwise you'll be lucky to get an hour out of the battery.

(also keep anything chocolate away from the heat vent- but its good for keeping your coffee warm/reheating take aways)

I do enjoy a good coffee when playing haha.

Okay, so I've decided to go down to desktop route...

Can anyone help me find good gaming PC for £800 or less? Like I said I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff so something pre-built, I wouldn't even know where to start with something like PartPicker or whatever it's called. I would still love to be able to play Direwolf20 with good FPS if that's possible.

I use AMD CPUs so I cannot speak to the I5 performance, but the rest of the system looks good. I know the mainboard will be good, as I've used ASUS exclusively in my personal builds since the 1980's.

Also, I may be stating the obvious, but unless you already have a keyboard, mouse and monitor you will have to spend more money as your link specifically states they are not included.

After consulting a friend who knows more about this stuff that I I decided to get this computer. Along with a cheap wireless mouse/keyboard for the time being. I'm super excited for it to arrive
