Is there anything different about 1.6 Bees/IC2 from 1.47 Bees/IC2?

Kinda tired waiting on DW to go through bees/extra bees and the upper tier of IC2 tech. Not that he needs to follow my schedule, just been waiting for those parts. Anybody who already does extra bees and is knowledgable of upper tier IC2...

For extra bees, is there anything different or of note from the 1.4.7 version?
For IC2, anything different (other than crafting the tech) about how to get to UU or other upper tier IC2 tech?
 
Bees, yes. There's a ton of new bees added from both 1.5.2 and 1.6.4, and Bees now have an extra stat called "stock", which as far as I can make out determines whether or not your breeding pairs will continue to produce princesses as offspring.

For IC2, uranium now needs to be processed in a multi-stage process and UU-matter is now a liquid that you produce in the Mass Fab then pipe into another machine. You need four machines in total to do what you used to be able to do with just the mass fab and a crafting bench. That's about all I can think of other than the recipe changes...

I got the whole ignoble and pristine thing. Is their anything different about the extra bees equipment? I'm wondering if I could just go back to DW's 147 youtubes of bees and not make any major mistakes...

Any youtubes anyone recommend on IC2 upper teir stuff?

As far as I'm aware the EB machines work the same now as in 1.4 (although in one of the updates during 1.5.2 the inoculator was changed so it doesn't try and apply to the wrong side any more so it only takes two uses of your serum to inoculate each bee now), but you have another mod now called Gendustry which can basically do a bunch more stuff with your bees :)
 
Interesting... I'm just not sure IC2 will get out of this ex version. I haven't heard any changes or updates from them since it came out for 1.6 Are they even doing anything?

They are. They're hard at work on something...
 
I would not hold your breath for DW to do an in depth piece on IC2, he's done it and done it many times already, I wouldn't expect it in this recent LP series.
I think he looked in to it a bit in his "recent" Forgecraft 1 series but now he's bored of FC 1 for the moment and is playing with 1.7 mods on FC2.

Bees: nah nothing really new on that front unless you count Gendustry which IMO completely sidesteps the whole point of Beekeeping and just gives you instant OP reward with little work... But I guess it is a way for the less patient people to actually use the bees. But if you liked the old beekeeping I think you want to give it a miss.

IC2E: Several new stuff happens up in the high tier end. UU matter processing is completely revamped. It is now a liquid being produced by the MF which needs to be pumped into a Replicator. The replicator then needs patterns of that you have scanned in a Scanner etc. Quite the process now and crafting some of the items are quite involved now.

Another addition is the improved ore processing. You can now increase ore to ingot returns by macerating the ore, then putting it through an Ore washing plant, then a Thermal Centrifuge. These two machines are also required now to process uranium into reactor fuel.

And yes there have been no development to IC2E for a long time. The team moved to 1.7 a long time ago(basically before any other 1.6 mods were really stable) and left the 1.6 version is a rather bad state. I think this(IMO bad) decision is partly to blame for the steep decline in interest for IC2 among the popular crowd. But if you can overlook the somewhat rough state it is in, it is IMO still a good mod even if it is not the biggest, easiest and most OP one out there any more.
