Is there any good FTB showcase/summary video?

Hey,

I'm trying to find a video that kinds of showcase the core aspects of FTB, to convince my friends to give FTB a try, as they know nothing about it.

I could try to send them each mod's spotlights by Direwolf, but if everything can be summed up in one video, it would be very helpful :)
The other solution would be to do the video myself, but I don't have a FTB server for now...

Anyone would know such a video?

Show him to various LP'ers and spotlights. If you want to get him interested in FTB, you must know what aspect of FTB will appeal to him and focus on that.

For me, things like BC, AE, TE, etc. sold me on FTB. Things like TC3 and all the less-tech mods wouldn't have done it for me.

After you know what works, Google + Youtube + mod name = success.

Yes indeed, but I'd like a video that only show complex machines that... do complex stuff (sorters, tree farms, energy and pipes, etc). Most spotlights will break down to each single block...

Maybe a video based on a actual FTB server...

The tricky thing about this is that there really isn't a core to FTB Ultimate or FTB Unleashed. FTB Unhinged is industrialcraft-centric, but otherwise there are multiple ways to do things an you can sort of play the game you want to play.

My advice is this. Pick any two of these mods and just start playing with them and seeing what you can do. When you feel comfortable, try integrating 2 more into your base

Good introductory mods that are fun to mess with
  1. Thaumcraft. So much to do here.
  2. Tinker's Construct: An amazing mod that is very fun. Could easily fit in vanilla minecraft and no one would be mad. Make yourself swell tools designed and styled exactly as you like.
  3. Thermal Expansion : (Does everything you want, has amazing perks, the easiest ore processing system by far)
  4. Buildcraft & Logistics Pipes (if you love technical builds and automation, these become more useful the more mods you use, start with quarries).
  5. Industrialcraft: A classic mod. Lets you make a factory style of ore processing. Less forgiving than thermal expansion, but also a bit cheaper per machine. Expect to blow up machines as you figure out the electricity. It is "Fun."
  6. Forestry (very complex mod but most players spend tons of time here. very rewarding bee and tree breeding and also the easiest infinite energy solutions. Rewards people who love beautiful blocks as well).
  7. Minefactory Reloaded : This mod does everything.
  8. Modular powersuits: Make an iron man suit. You will be nigh immortal when you're done.
If I had to recommend 2 mods for an industrial builder: use Thermal Expansion and Minefactory reloaded, you will need a pump and redstone engines from buildcraft.. If I had to recommend 2 for a person who loves magic, Thaumcraft and Forestry are fun.

Not really. When you're trying to get someone interested in something, pointing them to hours worth of generic media is the LAST thing you should be doing. 5-10 minutes is about the most you have to get their attention, and a 20-40 minute mod spotlight on a single mod out of 100+ doesn't cut it. The OP didn't ask for an alternative to a pack spotlight, they asked for a pack spotlight. And the trouble with mod pack spotlights, especially where FTB is concerned, is that those kinds of things take a significant amount of time to prepare and are rendered obsolete in 2-3 months when people only want to see the goods on the new shinies.
