Is there a way to use nether quartz as certus quartz for AE?

No TE have this conversion on default, Don't like it? just disable that conversion. Just like swapping Machine Blocks for Machine Frame. People can grind that down into free gold.
It not on by default, the is no forge lexicon option for it.I do like this conversion, how can i enable it?

Maybe it's vary by pack or something but idk why you can't config the thing. I thought I read that you can black/white things to be permitted for conversion.

It's isn't even a part of GT either. That thing is from TE Not GT. Yep GT bugs a lot of mods but AE isn't one of them.

Wrong. The Forge Lexicon is from neither GT or TE. It's from the Omni-Tools mod which is created by the same author as TE.

Edit: Also, the Forge Lexicon uses a whitelist to decide what Ore Dictionary entries it can convert. By default, it only has a narrow list including the main metals like Copper, Tin, etc... If you want to add a new conversion you have to add it to the whitelist. You can do that by going to your config/cofh/ folder and adding the OreDictionary entry to the Lexicon_Whitelist.txt file.

Going out at night to get Ender Pearls became much easier about halfway through the MPS progression, specifically when the various movement upgrades on the pants could more than compensate for the heavy armor of the iron plating at full strength. When I could stand toe-to-toe with 2 Enderman and also get away from a creeper before it could go off, Ender Pearls became fun to get. Every night was Ender Pearl hunt night and it makes me really think hard about how to spend my precious Ender Pearls. I'm not pre-crafting 64 filled Tesseracts frames at a time.

I wouldn't mind if EE3 changed the Ender Pearl recipe from 4 iron to something more reasonable, like for instance 1 diamond plus 4 iron. As it is, Ender Pearls are almost NEI Cheat Mode with the current 4 iron recipe and indeed have turned me off to EE3 entirely. I didn't even bother making a Minium Stone this last reset.

After I get JetPack and down the Ender Dragon, I'll probably be fine with going to The End and slaying an Enderman or 50.

On my server I use the Energy Manipulator mod (instead of EE3), and assigned EV (EMC) values to the AE quartz. Makes it "easier" to build an AE system without needing to destroy the landscape trying to find the ores.

i have tried adding the quartz entry to my whitelist and also switching config to blacklist and removing both quartz entries from there in an effort to get the lexicon to convert between the two. i still get the error "This conversion is disabled" and "only one entry" when attempting to convert certus to nether quartz... any ideas for other places to check? Fortune makes this pretty much a non-issue. You get pretty big numbers of them out of the clusters. I like a Cobalt Hammer with Fortune II. I stopped needing quartz after about ten minutes of mining.

Check chasms and cave entrances around copper levels. That's where I find the most of it.

Pity there's not a quartz berry bush though.

i have plenty of both, and do use the fortune tinker pick to get it. my question is about using the blacklist/whitelist to get the plinth/forge lexicon to work with quartz per the main posters question.

Are the two actually registered in the ore dictionary? If you hit U in NEI, one of the tabs should list any OreDictionary names it has and show what other items share that registry.

did some digging and found the L key did recipe lists, and i enabled the oredictionary tooltip. no idea that existed! very handy. now this is interesting, the nether quartz crystal does not have a tooltip, but certus quartz does. BOTH quartz dusts have dictionary entries... perhaps theres a way to macerate then convert them?

EDIT: The blacklist does not contain any "dusts" preventing it from being converted, but the error still comes up as "only one entry" when trying to switch either. i suppose that means that since the dictionary has several "dustCopper" and only one of "dustQuartz" and "dustCertusQuartz" that they are counted completely differently... so it doesn't look possible without editing the oredictionary entries, which violates the spirit of gameplay on our server, so i won't be doing that. thanks all for the input. learned something.

I think he's just trying to use Nether quartz cause bees make those but AE ones are nonrenewable. Not anymore! Just get a laser drill up and running with a lot of juice and you'll get renewable AE quartz!
You don't have the right definition of renewable...

Not free gold. in ee3, 4 iron = 1 gold, plus you have to smelt it.

As for the OP, no. It's intended to be that way. Certus quartz is FAAAAAR rarer than nether quartz, making it and AE's machines more valuable.

Dart craft has a force freezing recipe from Nether to Certus Quartz (if you don't know you can do this with a force furnace socketed with a freezing upgrade core).

in ee3 8 iron was 1 gold and 4 iron was 1 ender pearl

Nobody suggested MineTweaker. You should be able to use that to add a recipe to convert the different quartz types into each other.

Then again, this thread is over a year old. Maybe that explains it... Necropost, anyone?

Yeah, no doubt about it this time.
