Just updated to 1.3, and even after a clean install with the /roaming/ftblauncher directory blownaway and re-created the IOException error is persisting.
Just did some testing while mointering connections, and near as I can tell the FTB launcher is trying to connect to 23.24.44.139 while the vanilla launcher is successfully logging me in by connecting to 54.225.65.234. Going to see if I can't forceably redirect the FTB address to the vanilla one and see if it works then.
Further update: That did it, adding
to the end of my HOSTS file has allowed me to download the modpack.
