I saw on a DW20 episode that they had a barrel full of fresh water items from pam's harvestcraft. How to automate creating this?? Ive tried the trick with transfer nodes but un-able to find the correct way to input the water bucket and have it refilled via a infinite water source. Is there another machine I should use?

cyclic assembler would be the easiest way. just fill with water and use the schematic to set the recipe. earliest method could be done with a autonomous activator and moving the water bucket into the chest to craft with a transfer node. saves the machine casing, probably cheaper on power but nowhere near as quick.
 
Soaryn used a water bucket in an enderIO tank which will fill it up.

Then using with filters on whatever item transport mod you prefer you can move it between the crafting chest and the tank.
 
There are separate item and fluid transports, as well as different pipes/conduits/ducts... Are you using the correct type?
