I have this pickle on my hands at the moment and I can find no explanation that makes sense.

I'm running a DW20 1.6.4 server, with a bunch of added mods.

I have addressed all the ID conflicts, and I have posted detailed instructions for everyone to follow, together with a fully updated list of config files that they need to copy to their installation.

It works flawlessly for everyone. Some players connected fine, and I tried it more that 10 times myself (deleting own installation and following my own instructions) just to make sure that I didn't mess up anywhere. Works good for me, and for everyone else.

I have however, one player, where this is not working. He keeps getting ID conflicts for a particular mod, no matter how many times he reinstalls everything, and copies configs. I even sent him my own installation zipped up just to make sure and he still gets the conflicts.

The only difference he has from the rest of us, is that we're all running fairly modern machines with Windows 7 and 8.1 64-bit, and he's still sporting a 32-bit Windows XP with 2GB RAM, where launcher only allows him to assign 1GB max to Minecraft.

He does manage to play Unleashed and Ultimate fine however. I spent literally 3 hours on Skype with him yesterday with no success.

I'm really out of options now.

Ideas anyone?

maybe put your working copy of the client into a dropbox and let this guy download it. That way there is no way they are doing the setup wrong.

If it says the problem is an ID mismatch then in all likeliness it probably is configuration problem. I recommend you get him to install TeamViewer and perform the installation yourself. That way at least you will know if it is his mistake or not.

Maybe he has been making changes to a location other than his current FTB install directory? That is a common mistake.

Haha poor lad.

Yeah I'm trying to get him to let me in with TeamViewer - but to him I'm just a dude on the Internet from the other side of the planet. It's not easy to get someone to let you in on their PC (even if they can watch what you are doing of course).

It's nice to see an admin who is so patient with the players. If it was me, I would have stopped helping him at this point.

Meh forget it.

Had a teamviewer session with him, and it appears that on a 32-bit OS, Java limits itself to 1GB. While Ultimate and Unleashed works, DW20 1.6.4 throws an Out of Memory and quits.

Sometimes it somehow runs, but acts very weird with ID conflicts and such.

He'll join us when he upgrades his OS.

Tell him to use this is in his ftb launcher under options/advanced enter in
Code:
-XX:permSize128m
1GB is plenty for a ftb client, my client used 400mb running ftb unleashed,
