We have lost two workers, but work will continue and credit will be given where credit is due
The mod production will continue.
The mod production will continue.
Yea I just said there won't be a steam to eu conversions to that person but I think he didn't even brother reading it.
Okay...I'm not sure if ILGT is the mod maker, or you. But in this case, I did bother reading it and I hope you read this and realize that you're incorrect. There will be a turbine added.. So you can choose between either steam or EU
I am the mod maker, and I tried to reason with him. But he didn't want to stay. Oh well I'm fighting on and going to work harder than ever on coding in order to get this out in a timely mannerOkay...I'm not sure if ILGT is the mod maker, or you. But in this case, I did bother reading it and I hope you read this and realize that you're incorrect.
And for leaving, you guys shouldn't leave, there's barely any difference. Greg, if people like LightKnight's designs better, maybe you should use them. You're still the "Big Boss". I don't want to see this die before it gets started.
Could always repair your teethI would really like to see another use for calcium cells.
What do you mean?so to be clear is this going to be an honest to god IRL solar tower set up?
Or are you still going with the LOL this tower just buffs the solars to make more power?
I hope this answers your question,The question is. Does the tower make the power or do you have the heliostats do it and the tower buffs them. This was something you brought up at the start of the thread. Then I got into a converastion with LightKnight which sounded like you were going with the helostats would be counted by the tower and the tower would make power (or steam) based off this much like how the work IRL. But since hes dropped I worry you have gone back to the idea that the heliostats will be creating the power themselves.
Yes the photovoltaic cells will be the nine Solars on top of the tower and they are needed. That's what "collects" the energy. So kind of like RLSo to get this stright.
You have to have a tower
That tower most have line of sight with the heilostats
And you do or dont need the photovoltic cells to make this work?
Yes I know it's not a solar but I wanted to add a solar panel in there somewhere because in the beginning that's all the mod was going to be.IRL towers do not need photovatolic cells. But ok its your mod your logic.
EDIT: That glowing thing on the tower is not a photovoltic cell. It is a heat chamber. It is either A) melting metal soduim or B) creating a heat difrrance to drive a pnumantic turbine. Most likely A from the looks of it.
8 actually does make more sense...Ok so basicly your logic is the 9 on top of the tower are getting the foucsed sun and thats pimping them out?
I guess I can see that. Don't like it much but I can see the logic. 8 would make more sense unlese the center one is rasied (no line of sight) and it would be cool if you could somehow turn the cells instead of them pointing stright up.
EDIT: or on mutliblock competion swap textures to make it look clean and soild with the faces on the edges (or real hackish just have teh face on all sides.)
IRL solar towers use water to produce steam, and that steam is used to provide energy. So basically a sloper powered steam boiler + steam turbine.
This is mostly true. Though most do it via super heating something else and using that to make steam. Most use sodium or a sodium blend (potassium nitrate and sodium nitrate) because of its ability to hold a crap ton of heat and transfer it easily. Its really only the older models that heat up water directly. Also an advantage to the sodium systems is the molten salts can be stored basically allowing the plant to make power even when the sun is down by using the stored molten salts.
But there are a few other ways the solar tower in real life works. There is the pneumatic systems that are far lower in temperatures and basically heat air creating a peruse difference.

As a side another thing this mod might want to look at is solar furnaces a sort of sister tech to the solar tower. Early solar towers where just solar furnaces with a 360 field and mostly the towers focus is still most often refured to as a solar furnace. But stand alone solar furnaces have there own things they can do like make hydrogen fuel or smelt steels. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_furnace
