I wanna make an automatic enderman farm. Any ideas?

I am gonna be using soul shards to spawn them, but how do I go about automatically killing them?
I don't have 13 hours to spend, making the farm btw.

Gravity is easy. Go 40+ blocks up collect with transposers or obsidian pipes.

Well, if you just spawn them they 'can' teleport away. The best way probably would to be to make them spawn high up and kill them immediately with fall damage... all of this in a nice neat cobblestone/smoothstone room if you don't care. You could also plan it out a bit more and put a filter in the center of the room and have water source blocks on each corner forcing it to the center where you would want all the items to go. Then probably string up some pnumatic [sp] tubes to a chest from that filter, I would recommend a barrel though.

Quicksand trap + a good vertical drop. Allows for more spawning space and prevents them from teleporting, I heard. Unless they can teleport on air. :p

I like the idea of a fall trap, but how do I make them fall, water? Won't they just teleport on top of the spawner then?

The best two ideas have already been posted, fall damage and quicksand. Just remember that they can teleport away when hit by sunlight, even in mid-air ( as long as there's a valid location nearby), which might lead to massive Enderman catastrophes if you're not careful.
At least this is easily fixed by building a roof above your spawner.

[edit] ^ A Tier 5 spawner in mid-air, obviously. If you want to build it in The End, there are some nice tutorials for what to do on YouTube.

They spawn in air, don't tp while falling.
Don't use water.... These are enderman -- tp on touching water.

Block off above spawner so they don't spawn directly on it.

build your spawn ceiling 7x7, middle is your redalloy jacketed wire, connected to spawner below. wrap the edges with water source blocks, will fall into a ditch dug below to prevent excess flow.
use turtles to patrol a path and attack.

Actually how could something that dies from fall damage... teleport that quickly. Yes they may hit the water, but they wont have even a split second before they die. Its working for me :)

Don't make the whole bottom water, just a wide enough room to push the items using one or two [4 in my case] source blocks on the edge of the room. It wont teleport that quickly. If the water was deep enough maybe. Either way, if TC is flush with resources he could make the whole bottom just filters and pipe them into a chest that way.

The endermen do not teleport away when suffocating from quick sand, however if you try to also do water, they will. This is nice because you no longer need a fall trap, however, it is certainly slower.

Yes T4 and T5 soul shard spawners ignore almost all spawning rules -- the endermen will spawn midair and in the light. Only rule seems to be the mob still needs space to spawn, so at least 3 high.

Endermen are 3 tall and spawners spawn one below, level, and one above themselves, so Make it a 3 high space above the spawner and you should capture all the possible spawn locations. Quick and dirty trap is to kill them with fall damage.

1. pilar up 45 blocks, make a 9x9 roof
2. place the cage in the middle of the square, 2 blocks down, and on one side a block with a wireless receiver
3. place the soulshard in the cage (with the redstone on)
4. remove the pilar down
5. turn off the signal
6. place transposers or obsidian pipes where endermen fall
7. ???
8. profit!

As others have said, the endermen will spawn in the air. Just build a spawner in the air and they will rain down. Easy cheesy.

The only concern might be that some could spawn on top of the spawner and stay there. I usually build a pillar on top of the spawner up to a roof to prevent that.

For collection, don't even bother with water. Just make the floor obsidian pipes or transposers, as others said. For style points, use wood golems instead.
