I've never jumped into a sea, but once I tried to use liquid ender as a player randomizer! It didn't work out well though.

Lua is about 100 times simpler than Java but more "complex" at the same time. It is a lot simpler and easier to delve into lua but Java has some things in it by default that you'd have to code by hand in Lua. That said lua is also a scripting language rather than a "real" language.
