when I'm running FTB, I get BSODs randomly. I'm running FTB ultimate 1.0.1 on a 64 bit machine with 6 gigs of ram and an i3 2120. I'm running windows 7 and have Trend micro Titanium for my AV. I have 2 gigs allocated to it, and having it lowered to that seemed to help for a while, but now it has come back. Additionally, I have been getting crashes and general game issues such as it not responding while ram usage for it goes down considerably. When I stopped having facebook opened while running FTB, that seemed to help some, but it has returned. I have a feeling that it's either overheating or has to use more CPU than what I have, but I'm not quite sure. The BSOD screen pops up and leaves to quickly, as it reboots immediately afterwards. What can I do to remedy this issue?

Try shutting down any unnecessary background applications and processes while you play.

Edit: also be sure you are running the most recent version of java 7 x64.

So no firefox? What do you recommend that is more lightweight and doesn't use 10 processes like chrome, and can get adblock, mywot, and noscript?

Hrm...

I use Nightly, it's one of the x64 versions of Firefox and seems not only to be smoother, but use a lot less resources.

Also, you might want to get something to monitor the heat on your cpu and make sure any cooling fans are set at their highest speed in your bios (they are usually not by default.)

Other than that, the only other option I have for you is to save up for a new computer. A decent i7 setup can be as cheap as $1000 for a gaming rig.
