Another thing you can try too is the Monster Spawn Highlighter mod. Super easy to mod into FTB and works like a charm. It's kind of an essential mod for me, even though I just use it once per base build.
I've found that skimming the bottom of deep water with a shovel, some dirt and torches (or doors), and a couple of night vision potions makes collecting clay pretty trivial overall.I'm kinda opposed to that since it requires clay. That stuff's more valuable than diamonds in my worlds. :/
Seriously people, use this mod. It can tell you exactly where mobs can spawn. It is very accurate since the way it can tell is that it simulates spawning and this way can adapt to new spawning mechanics without changing its own code.Another thing you can try too is the Monster Spawn Highlighter mod. It does indeed look friggin awesome.-It looks friggin awesome with connected textures and massive pipe/tube networks
Presumes Gregtech which is probably the most popular mod that people turn off. Hence me saying that clay is more valuable than diamonds in my world.
That is the problem Direwolf ran into. He built the room with a doubleslab floor.Half blocks still work to ward off monster spawns same as always. You just need to make sure that your using the lower half and not the upper half of them. Since now you can place both normal and upside down half blocks and the upper upside down ones act as normal blocks for everything including mob spawning. So if you want to block mob spawns you need to make your floors a half block lower then normal.
I use Light Level Overlay myself. Gives a bit more info than just where mobs can spawn. However, the two mods have different features.Another thing you can try too is the Monster Spawn Highlighter mod. Super easy to mod into FTB and works like a charm.
