Hi,

I´m finishing my storage room and even if a bit of overkill, I have 120 deep storage Units in it. So after configuring all those StorageBusses with filter and priority now I want to see from the front side which Item is stored in each DSU. I normally did this with Item frames but is there another way to do it?

My wish would be ME-Monitors in front of each DSU but I don´t want to configure each one by hand.

sadly that'll be the way to do it if you want to do it through AE.

While more expensive to make, Jabba barrels can show the contents on *any* of its faces. In the latest version, you can also link Jabba barrels, similar to how Ender Storage Ender Chests work.

I stopped using DSUs once I discovered Jabba.

computercraft= moretime intensive to teach me coding right then setting up Itemframes/AE monitores :)

I get the feeling I might found a nish for some new block :)

@MigukNamja

why didn´t you tell me about them before I craft 120 fucking DCU´s with new fucking recipte?

only downside is that just 524.288 item have space in it. But well 524k may be enoguht for all my needs isn´t it?

LOL. Sorry, man. I dropped the ball there and should have told you sooner ;-)

And, yes, Jabba barrels are quite a bit smaller than DSUs, but I can't imagine what one would ever use the items from a fully-upgraded, full Jabba barrel for.

One thing the DSUs make easy is not worrying about excess inventory. DSUs are essentially infinite in size save for the largest production systems in very long-lived worlds. With Jabba barrels, you do have to worry about overflow, but that's what the void/trashcan/recycler-type mechanics are for.

If dumping everything into ME (and not filtering upon input), I believe* you can simply point an ME Storage Bus at a void chest, trashcan, or similar and make it the lowest priority storage bus on the network. You can get more precise and format it to what you know/believe you will overflow with.

*Need to test/verify myself

I use an item frame with one of the item inside it. This doesn't show the quantity, but if you have a DSU, are you *really* worried about the quantity? You can always just check your terminal for the quantity as well.

I did a overflow anyway. Just my beeing no letting a security hole right there xD

The overflow works right like you said.
ME-Drives have priority=1
Trashcan= 50
DSU= 100
Filter on the Trashcan export Buses wit hall items that are stored in a DSU

so in Case there will be a full DSU before going into my 1k chips it will go to the trashcan. Everything that is not accapted by DSU won´t go in there since i filtered the export Bus so it goes to the drives.

So I just have to craft all the Jabbers and replace them with the DSU´s and preconfig them. Then hook a importbut to each DSU and just see magic happen :)

Excellent, @Dentvar. I was preparing to get something like this going in my MF2 world. I haven't yet hit the point where I've exceed the single ME Drive I have filled with a mix of 1K, 4K, and 16K disks, but I'm getting close. The key seems to be :

ME-Drive(s) : lowest priority, no filter
Trashcan : middle priority, filter on high-quantity items in DSU/Barrels
DSU(s)/Barrel(s) : highest priority, filter on high-quantity items

It makes sense in concept and I'm very glad it works in practice. Many thanks for these details. It's why I love these forums !

In the latest Jabba there's a void upgrade that does exactly what it sounds like, it'll keep taking items even if full and just erase the excess

If you're referring to the Ender Pearl upgrade, I tried that and it didn't work. Maybe I didn't use the tuning fork correctly.

I will put picks up today. I did change everything from DSU to Jabber yesterday but this emerald upgrades make them look green and I don´t like it at all...
Also I was talking with @Juanitierno about it and he made me rethink the hole room.
Barrles have to refresh their skin everytime you put a item in it you need storage buses and dependent on your design a bunch of ME cable. Wich all makes it more laggy. Maybe its not a lot of but still not optimal.

In exchange we could archive the same function doing ME Drives with 64K chips one for each item you would have put into a barrel. You can still store 520k items in it.
You can set the priority per drive this means a drive can take 12(?) chips so in my case I have 120 barrels I only would need 12 drives.

so everyone has to decide(stupid spanish) !!choose!! if you want a huge room for design but a bit more laggy or a small but server friendly one. Both options are very expensive. The upgrades for Jabbas will consum everything you had as wil lthe 64K chips do.
Magic crops + Activator waterincans will help to get them.

Looks nice ! Would look fantastic if it weren't for the green from the Emerald Structure upgrade. For pure aesthetic reasons, I stopped at Obsidian. I like the black border and don't need to store more than ~100,000 of any given item anyways.

Also, if you're on Jabba 1.1.1, you can use 3-shot and 9-shot Storage Upgrades to build said room faster. They also added the Void upgrade that causes overflow to get deleted. In other words, we don't need the trashcan anymore, though the trashcan + ME Storage Bus priority does work well enough.

y I would have to update Jabba manualy. Playing on Monster 1.0.9 unchanged
