I'm not going to explain it in detail, as that has been done a hundred times already. Simply search this forums, or google, or youtube for "redpower sorting machine".

A very simple sorting system is an ender chest and a filter. The filter pulls items out of the enderchest and throws them into the pneumatic tube which runs to the barrels. Pretty easy to set up. If you use a Sorting Machine it gets a little more complicated because of the colors and sometimes you need more than one sorting machine.

Yeah but i have a problem. Ive used in my testings world the sorting machines, and i wanted to srt all the items into diffenrent chests, but in this way i need to many sorting machines and wires. For example to send all the wood-like blocks, like logs planks and sticks, i have to put each one that exist in a sorting machine. Isnt there a better way to do this?

Well that's what hitmaniac said, an enderchest with a filter that puts the items in barrels, so no need for a sorting machine. If you want to use chests, you can hook up a filter before each chest, that way you can put 9 different items in one chest.

You can't connect to barrels from the bottom, the tubes always have to be on top. You don't have to change your setup, just add a second line of tubes on the upper row of barrels and use covers on the existing tubes to prevent them from connecting to the upper barrels.

Tks but what do you mean by covers?

It's a redpower thing. You can hide redpower pipes and wires with covers.

The truth is that there are many ways to do what you want to do. Direwolf20's favorite approach is to use redpower2 sorting machines, but you can do it with buildcraft pipes or Factorization routers or even (with a bit of cleverness) railcraft stuff or Steve's Carts.

It would help us help you if we new what kind of resources you have available. Redpower's stuff is the cheapest, but also invovles specialized tools. Factorization's stuff is really really powerful, but you need a diamond block, obsidian and TNT to start. Buildcraft's stuff is not very smart and costs diamonds, but can do a serviceable job. Do you like Thaumcraft? You can make a sorting system with Golems and it's actually very space efficient!
