Hi,

I saw on Direwolf20's latest smp series a pure node that was grown to 3000! And was wondering how do you grow nodes? I know you can merge nodes but how for example would you grow a pure node to 3000? I know there are crystals but in my test world that just created flux and didn't increase the size of the node. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Protokohl :)

Growing silverwood trees and merging the node, it's a long process to get to 3000. I'd recommend a hoe of growth and axe of the stream both with repair, also a wood golem and chest can help to collect dropped saplings so you don't have to wait around as much. I did 3 trees at a time growing my pure node and was happy enough when it was at 500ish aura.

Planting trees is the easiest way. Is it fun? No. The fun way is to make a 3-axis computer-controlled frame ship with a node mover set up underneath pulling your preferred aura along, gobbling up all the lesser nodes in the local area. But don't do this until you have some crystal clusters to regenerate your new behemoth.

If you go with planting trees, make sure you do it in an enclosed space with a door, otherwise your world will be overrun by wisps.

So crystal clusters do regenerate the Node? I though they just increased the Aura past it capacity like a magical form of overclocking?

And I do that with the super crystal thingy (Can't remember name). Though what do Crystal Clusters do? All they have done in my test world is make the node 130/110 and not increased the size just overclocked it so to speak.

Right. Each cluster adds one vis to the aura every 5 minutes, up to a percentage maximum over the aura's natural size (e.g. 130/110). A node's natural size only increases through merging with other nodes, whether by having them pulled near, or repeatedly growing silverwood nodes nearby.

Each silverwood node adds 15-50 to the node's max, in my experience, at a cost of ~100 vis. That means by going the silverwood route, you will drain hundreds or thousands of vis from local nodes while growing your target by a fraction of that. This is why you should have crystal clusters installed beforehand, because you'll soon find all of your local nodes nearly drained and not regenerating. You'll also get "dangerous" flux levels very quickly, so do it in a cage to contain the wisps.

So I have crystal clusters nearby to add extra aura to the node then I drain the extra aura in order to grow the node and not kill the nearby nodes correct? And will I get high levels of flux from the crystal cluster because that seemed to happen in my test world but it might have been something I did.

Crystal clusters only indirectly create flux because they will push a node past its max. Nodes above their max create flux. There are several ways to mitigate this; the first is obviously to use it before it gets high. Another is to place capacitors. There is also the option of using the Thaumic Bees mod if you have it. One strategy I employed in my last play through was to have a large node about 300 meters from my primary, boost it up with clusters, and encase it in water to drown all the wisps that spawned.

That'll have to be a question for someone else. I actually haven't done anything with bees of any kind yet.

Oh ok. So to recap for a massive pure Node: 1. Grow a pure node with Silverwood Tree 2. Use crystal clusters to add vis to the node and and capacitors to suck up the extra vis 3.Grow a second Node then when 100 vis is drained it is replenished from the capacitors that sucked up the extra vis from step 2. then I repeat again and again to grow the node is that correct?

Okay I get this now though which Thuamic Bees do I need?
I'm not sure which bee you need to get the effect in the first place, but the end effect you need is the Nodify effect.

It pulls the nodes near to the bee hive first, and once it's on the bee hive, it slowly grows the node in size up to maximum node size.
