Sorry if I'm posting on the wrong forum as this is my first time here but I have a question:

I'm trying to create some thaumium ingots. Firstly I made a crucible, put it on top of a one-square source of lava and filled it with water and it started to boil. Then I dropped 1 piece of iron and some infused stones for the praecantio and then right clicked the crucible with my wand, but nothing happened.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

no wands no nothing just make sure you meet the aspects needed and the catalyst needed it will instantly pop into your inventory the crucible crafting is more like "atelier-class"

You need the aspects in first, then throw in the catalyst. Otherwise it'll boil down the catalyst into the aspects.

The way I make cheap Thaumium ingots is using Mossy Cobblestone for Praecantatio. The Mossy Cobblestone can be cheaply made by putting Cobblestone into a TE3 Fluid Transposer. If you're not using TE3 and have Forestry, the Moistener will also work.

4 stacks of Mossy Cobblestone and 1 stack of iron makes 1 stack of Thaumium. I toss in 16 Mossy Cobblestone at a time and then follow up with 4 iron. That will make 4 Thaumium. I do that 1 more time (for 8 Thaumium total), and then wand to clear. I repeat 8 more times to get a stack of 64 Thaumium. Note that I only have to wand 8 times (every other stack of 4 Thaumium made).

The other essentia in Mossy Cobblestone not being consumed will create a mess (of purple goo). I just make an entire stack of 64 at a time, and then cleanup after making a stack. I usually only make between 2 and 3 stacks in a world before world reset, so not a big deal.

The Mossy Cobblestone is also nice to put in a Deconstruction Table since you can get all 6 Primals from it. In TE 4.1, I made 4 Decon Tables so that I will always have 4 Primals available when I walk by my Thaumcraft area. I may try 2 more to make it 6 total. I think that will allow me to stand there and make Primals as fast as I can click them.

Using Mossy Coblestone is a nice sugestion mate, thank you :)

Assuming that Thamium only takes Praecantatio... Why not use Dart Craft and it's Force Nuggets? Aren't they 1 praecantatio per?

There is of course the possibility of using Infusion Crafting instead of the Crucible, but I haven't tested this personally and wish I have. Sounds super easy to use compared to using the crucible.

Good point, yes. I used Force metal when I had DartCraft installed.

As for Crucible vs. Infusion, I don't see how the Infusion can make it as quickly unless you can also somehow put a stack of iron ingots or an iron block in the center. It takes a little while for the Infusion Altar to do its thing each time. With the crucible, you can drop small stacks of the ingredients and the catalyst as fast as you want, wand it, and do the next batch.

I generally just use greatwood for the praecentio. Starting off early in the game greatwood is a lot more common and still easily renewable.

What it lacks in speed, it makes up for in reliability. You have flux left over when you're done, yes? Using the altar, you won't(likely) as it takes in aspects from jars and not items. No wasted essentia of any kind, like how your mossy stone gets you your praecantatio but plenty of other aspects which get tossed, but in infusion crafting those other aspects are saved as well.

Terrain smasher above the crucible solves the clean up problem. I even broke down and put them on my infusion pedestals along with hoppers. Infusion crafting is so awesome now.

That's pretty sweet. Didn't know you could do that. I've always made a drainage system with microblocks that just dumps it all unto a massive empty cavern below my base.

I just let it loose into my environ, cover my ceiling, be all over my floor, and I don't think twice about it.

I would love to swim in that since my assigned aspect in TC4 player scanning is taint

I just learned that alchemical recipes can be done with the Infuswion Altar. Additonalyl there's always the alchemical construct. You can usethta for Tallow as well. Considering both need only Praecantio.

Ok, how does that work? I can't seem to get that to work. Unless it changed in 4.1...
